"They tryin' to break us. Why, Jesus Christ, Ma, they comes a time when the on'y way a fella can keep his decency is by takin' a sock at a cop. They're workin' on our decency."

I'm 40 years old today. in case you needed help putting me in a temporal context. (I still live on the same planet you do, spatially, far as I know)

significant milestone number, given base 10 numeral system and the average human lifespan

hard not to get retrospective

they started with the Net Gun Store. gotta have an immobilizing net gun, that's so fun!

then they realized the net gun prop wouldn't work

too hard to CGI a net

what could they easily CGI?

December 2nd marks the day John Brown was granted martyrdom in the great abolitionist cause.

His epitaph read:
I have fought a good fight.
I have finished my course.
I have kept the faith.

this is good, but also: there's more sleight of hand contributing to the comic's persistence

because you likely *have* experienced something like this:

"Can I interest you in our new special?"
"Would you like fries with that?"
"Are you a Rewards Member?"

the comic conflates Options with Upsell
This is actually quite brilliant, up to and including the final sentence 🔥

Look at this image (and thread - use the translate service).

This one reads along the lines of:

"..Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) without cleaning.

In just 15 minutes of acquisition, we counted 1,659 satellite trails (about 400 individual ones).

Words cannot describe the pollution of near space."

🔭

longtime followers know this is legitimately, essentially the crux of my take on the two shows. the Munsters unsettle their neighbors because they are Physically Other. the Addamses unsettle their neighbors because they are Culturally Other
The Munsters poses the chilling question, what if your parents were a vampire and a Frankenstein? The Addams Family poses the chilling question, what if your parents were openly sexual?

When yall were kids (think like.. age 4-12) what was the coolest character design you had ever seen that was super formative?

it really is marvelous that we can read "he was whistling to the tune of 'Yes, Sir, That's My Baby'" in an 86-year-old book and within seconds bring up the tune online

to say nothing of the utility of Wikipedia and Wiktionary and Google Maps
