I wrote about the massive failure of imagination that brought the US to this point.

Trump: “I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries … denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility, and deport any Foreign National who is a public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization.“

To oppose colonialism can never just be ideological or intellectual. In their art and in their lives, these five musicians contend with that duality and create as an act of resistance.
How to Be an Anti-Colonial Musician
For these five artists, creation is an act of resistance, and anti-colonialism is the methodology.

I feel much safer today knowing that we deported a Babson College student back to a country where she hasn't lived since childhood.

She wasn't even flying internationally. She was flying to Texas.

Talked to some National Guard kids from West Virginia on the street near my office. They don't have leave to go home for Thanksgiving this week.

They can't see their families, because the president wants to use them as political props. No doubt, though, there'll be a feast at Mar-a-Lago Thursday.

The thing about the ongoing media scandal du jour is that RFK Jr is actually killing people.

The idea a reporter could fall in love with that - and that major magazines and publishers - would find it appealing is appalling.
Another baby has just died of whooping cough in Kentucky, thanks to RFK Jr. and his merry band of anti-vaxxers.

My feeling toward RFK Jr. and the Republican Senators who confirmed him is utter contempt.

Making my dog jealous telling my pie it’s such a good sweet little pumpkin
The only correct pie take is that pies are like dogs—they’re all good, we just have stronger personal attachments to some than others.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

this is not a smart man
after all the money and effort he’s put into bullshit racist conspiracies and twitter files nonsense, it’s hilarious that Musk unthinkingly revealed his whole site is an astroturfed sham

By all means use it to code or within some small fixed dataset, but wow is it terrifying the number of times I’ve encountered people seeking medical or legal advice from ChatGPT
fwiw from my experience as a tech worker a lot of folks do genuinely use LLMs for coding, which they can be extremely helpful with, but almost nobody relies on them to answer questions the way a lot of laypeople do

So much theorizing but imo it boils down to Mamdani being cool, charming, a winner and powerful in New York, all things Trump has wanted his whole life, so he likes the proximity. Helps that Mamdani came to him. It won’t last, of course. At some point he’ll flip on him. This is narcissism 101.
Today’s meeting with Mamdani confirmed once again that Trump is a narcissistic tyrant, not an ideologue. This is a personalist regime above all.
