Diplomacy as real estate.

Everyone from Putin to FIFA knows that you no longer need to appeal to American interests, let alone values; you appeal to the greed of its president and his circle.

A more honest slogan than MAGA would have been "Make Donald Rich Again".

I paid £4.75 for a latte in a service station today. It wasn’t good. Just saying if you want to complain about something that’s a better place to start than the mansion tax.

Bribes feels like the wrong word to describe Russian money to Reform/UKIP reps.. it’s really seed funding, no?
Another senior Reform Party leader is caught taking money from the Kremlin. "Speaking outside his château in France, Coburn, a leader in Nigel Farage's Reform Party, answered 'no' when a BBC journalist asked him whether he had ever been paid to give a speech to promote pro-Russian campaigners."

This is the power of vaccines.

In England's great ghost census, many phantoms give their home address as parish church. This is not due to spectral godliness, nor an uncommon favouring of Evensong, but a sign of the former role of the church in community life and afterlife. – #CJosiffe #Ghosts

My LinkedIN is awash with apparently innovative captains of industry saying that the freezing of the income tax brands or an extra 2% tax on the dividends they pay themselves instead of salaries means it’s hardly worth them running their businesses and I just don’t believe them.

Nigel Farage has spent £1m taking out adverts in the papers to distract from the Nathan Gill Russian bribe scandal.

We can't let him buy himself out of this. We need an investigation into Russian influence in our politics.

Three things to bear in mind about yesterday’s #budget.

1) Our overall tax take is still proportionally less than other Western European peer countries.

2) Brexit

3) Liz Truss

To anyone looking at the budget from afar its pretty small beer. The media hysteria around it just bonkers.

You know the Star would have run that "the Rach stole Christmas" headline regardless of what was in the budget, because a) they were so amused with themselves for the Rach/Grinch pun which they had been working on all summer and b) they had already commissioned the artwork.

Hyperbole...

Now I’ve had time to digest the budget and read the views of people I trust, it seems like actually it was really rather a good one for decarbonisation. Not all good of course (and it’s never enough), but the show is still on the road.
