I did not expect a game to engage with the eurocentrism of naming conventions and approaching it with a certain level of maturity, where your character is assumed to have come from a background of Gondorian ignorance and must talk with local scholars and indigenous people to make any progress.

So, I am an MMO nerd at heart, and LOTRO is like my comfort food game I go back to for a few weeks every few months when I need something to do while catching up on an audiobook or a podcast. I'm up to the Umbar expansions for the first time and really impressed with the writing.

If you aren't already reading New Edge, I really can't recommend them enough. I grew up reading my dad's old Lankhmar and Elric books and these are one of the only contemporary offerings that scratch the itch.

Sorry, more Wolfepilled posting as I crack The Short Sun. I wish more genre authors realised that an unreliable narrator's purpose is not to gotcha the audience with a twist, but to enhance the story with what's left out or occluded, as well as give the narrator more character and flavour.
