There are literally endless excellent works of fiction in this world. We can afford to pick our battles. We don’t have to pay $70 to play any particular game that uses AI in any capacity when there’s a rich body of incredible games that use none and will continue to be. This IS the line.
No, there isn’t a way. There just isn’t. GenAI is poisoning the water supply of Oregon. It’s boiling inland seas.This tech, at scale, is an anti life equation, and all to spit out stolen collages of other people’s work to plug into a pipeline that has to be fixed by an underpaid real human later.

The thing thats so insidious about using AI this way is that one of the main ways artists get hired are studios looking for art references and they find us and reach out.
This is removing a major avenue to get work if they can just generate nameless derivations of our ideas.

I find so many artists I've never seen before when researching ref on every single painting I make. This is the way we make connections. Using genAI to make reference is creating unseen missed opportunities at unprecedented speed and removing one more human element of art making.
