I’ve been trying to find ways to articulate my hatred of AI-generated music that won’t come across as snobbish, but most of what I have to say about it can be boiled down to this:

None of the artists I like in any genre, regardless of era, make music that can be accurately predicted by a computer.

My Stranger Things take is that S1 caught lightning in a bottle between the cool end of 80s nostalgia (modular synths, D&D), a compelling second act for Winona Ryder's career, plus Matthew Modine and David Harbour. The show then steered into an unwatchable but profitable nostalgia humping ditch

If you're mad that it's difficult to have an objective and nuanced conversation about the pros and cons of AI your beef is with the developers and promoters of this tech who deliberately made that impossible because they benefited from the irrational hype!

I have said before and will say again that it is such a loss that we no longer get covers of this caliber for fantasy books.

This art is by Jean-Léon Huens. These covers are for the Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander. They lit my imagination on fire as a kid.

I would lose my fucking mind if I got stuck in this shit. I hated driving in SF whenever forced to do it and that was with human drivers
Waymo privatized another public street:

Chanel approaching 4th, San Francisco

Possibly queued for a Billie Eilish show at Chase Center ~half mile away.

The light rail train on 4th seen passing in front of this roboherd has more passenger capacity than all of them combined.

Putting together my favorite records list for the year and this one came outta nowhere to make the list. Massive shoegaze fuzz, midwest emo vibes without the whining, stellar songwriting.

One of the weirdest imperial boomerangs for sure
God it's so cool that so much of British and European nationalist politics has broadly been shaped by warehouse clickfarms rented by guys in South Asia running "how to make money from racist old people" workshops, and that this has had more influence on media and politics than any grassroots group

no one has even bothered trying to convince us there’s a threat from Venezuela. no weapons of mass destruction. nothing. just a war of choice because why not.
US operations against Venezuela to begin within days.

Covert ops the first move.
