Die Politik ist mitschuldig an diesem Zustand. Solange Steuern für Ultra-Reiche Tabu sind, wird sich an dieser Debatte nichts ändern. Niemand wagt es zu sagen, warum der Staat ausblutet, während der globale Geldadel immer schneller immer reicher wird. Lieber neue Schulden aufnehmen...

Just one aspect I find important in this minority-majority discussion: A (probably large) chunk of those with C-permit might be eligible to apply for Swiss citizenship in Kt. BS but decide not to (of course, there are plenty of valid reasons).

ha, similarly one of my favourites (apparently debunked by linguists, booo): the french 'bistrot' may originate from russians occupying Paris in 1814 and visiting coffee places, demanding to be served quickly, hence the russian быстро "quickly"

I found out yesterday that a Futon is a traditional Japanese bed and not, what I thought, the archetype of a very French word. Evens it out a bit.

Also den Vertrag, der dafür sorgt, dass Kapital und Arbeitsplätze in der Schweiz bleiben findet die SVP ganz schlimm. Aber den Vertrag mit dem 200 Mia. Investitionen von Schweizer Firmen in den USA und nicht in der Schweiz getätigt werden ganz grossartig? Patriotismus ging auch schon mal anders.
