Our culture has such a reliance on art, mixed with so much disdain for artists' lives. Someone throws soup at a painting in a gallery or whatever and everyone acts like it's a literal murder, but that level of sympathy is for the object, almost never for the living conditions of artists.

Creators are not weird cockroaches who survive anything (well some of us are) & the vast majority are not elite. Commodifying the total lack of safety nets for creators as "you're a starving artist!" is such a scam. It's turning your life into a product that others profit from and you do not.

It doesn't help that a lot of game developers don't bother blind-testing their tutorials, which are inevitably rushed as the last things written.
