how did they not clock this earlier
the bleakest moment in this article is the point where a heritage staffer, horrified by fuentes, discovers that "a growing number" of heritage interns are groypers
My assumption is that the New York Post has better sources inside Heritage than most other press outlets. One tidbit of note: Princeton's Robert P. George, a Heritage trustee, is said to be pushing fellow board members to oust its president Kevin Roberts. Hope he succeeds.
It's fascinating how retail investors played a key part in the crash of 1929 and how we're seeing similarities now with a massive uptick during the pandemic (following a slow increase in the past few decades)
One extraordinary feature of so prominent a stock as RCA was that it had never paid a dividend. In contrast, stocks of railroad companies, which embodied a well-known technology and produced steady dividends, showed little sign of a bubble"
A quote I find really interesting:

"One characteristic of the 1929 stock market boom was the preeminence of stocks of firms that used new technologies. Some of the market's favorites were GM, RCA, and utilities, companies that employed new production methods that made fundamentals hard to assess.
Maybe I’m mistaken, but to me it feels like the radio industry of the 1920s
It's actually not, it has become the marker of an in group to a certain type of leftist.

In group markers don't need to be logical, it's predominantly done to show others how we're like them and it has done so for a certain left because the far right has embrace AI slop/scam so strongly.
it is truly a mystery why a bunch of people are intensely negatively polarized against AI now, yes
Its okay haha, no shame^^ I was just trying to help
There's also a small rational group who hate AI for rational reason, but the annoying people about it are not rational.

It's a marker and thus if you don't embrace it you're not part of their group and they hate you for that.
If you were blocked you wouldn't be able to see their posts

Can’t imagine why people don’t like the technology that they’ve been telling us for years is designed to take our jobs and replace normal human interactions and sexual relationships

The Texas Dept of Public Safety carried out aerial surveillance of Austin's No Kings protest after Gov. Abbott suggested that "violence & destruction" were likely.

Of course, the event was peaceful. Even the pilot, in video I obtained via FOIA, says: "Seems like it’s gonna be pretty peaceful, huh?"

Despite disappointment in Montreal, urbanist politicians had a pretty good night elsewhere in Quebec.

In Quebec City, Bruno Marchand handily beat the “Tramway non merci” campaigner.

Marchand has also been building a Montreal-style express bike network.

What the hell is a rotation key?

Learn why having a Rotation Key and keeping regular backups of your Bluesky/AT Protocol account is important, especially if you are on a third party PDS.

In the early 1980s, the typical household with an elderly householder had a net wealth similar to the national average. Now it's about 55% greater than the average. Meanwhile, young households now have substantially less comparative wealth than they had back then.

I am so upset.

Last week Time Magazine solicited a piece from me on Zohran Mamdani & anti-Muslim hate. I pitched a framing re the dehumanization of Muslims & how Mamdani’s inclusive, socialist campaign in its content resists that. They agreed. I wrote the piece. 1/
To be asked to write about racism only to be racially aggressed in the editing process is a new level unlocked I have to say.

one thing I'd like to see in games like this that are simply too complex and grand to give a succinct and fair review to

find a way to get people w/ 1000s of hours in EUIV to get a review key and interview them about their experience
Luke wonders how he's supposed to review Europa Universalis V, a game that's too big and whose parts are always moving.

That there are now problems that vividly demand to be resolved and it’s not by feigning normalcy that they will get resolved. It’s by changing the status quo.
Instead of sitting on their lauriers they should seek out the next ideological hegemon, but they’re too focused on crying like babies.
