thanks for the mention, i wasn't aware of this show. iirc Babylon Berlin had a bit about a socialist press going through the same thing in the leadup to the war. unless i'm thinking of something else i watched.

i was just reading this article about how they crammed a new program head into the jewish studies program via a suspect series of events (and trying to make it look like an organic, faculty-involved process when it clearly wasn't). probably just one ex. of creepfash.

The week after over 50 protesters were arrested in a pro-Palestinian encampment in Dunn Meadow in late April 2024, Jikeli helped host a "Rally Against Hamas Propaganda" at Showalter Fountain. Jikeli said the protest was not against the encampment, but rather rhetoric he considered harmful.

The student, Sabina Ali, is a doctoral candidate in Religious Studies with a minor in Jewish Studies. Imhoff is Ali's advisor and was the scheduled guest of the event, discussing the book she co-wrote, "The Woman Question in Jewish Studies."
Attendees told the IDS multiple faculty and graduate students objected to Jikeli removing Ali and said the event would not go on if he removed her.
Furey said once Jikeli removed Ali, 20 of the 24 in-person attendees left and hosted the event on their own in a separate Zoom meeting.

I'm sure many of you have heard by now that earlier this week, IU k*lled the print edition of its student paper, the IDS. The issue that was supposed to print this week contained criticism of the Whitten regime and IUs further slide into scist control, and they couldn't allow that to happen during Homecoming, when all the rich alumni are in town.
Enter Purdue! The Purdue student paper, The Exponent, owns its own presses. Yesterday, in an act of tremendous solidarity with their biggest rival school, they printed the forbidden issue of the IDS. They then drove it to Bloomington overnight and stocked all of the IDS boxes on campus, just in time for Homecoming.
Solidarity is what makes us stronger, and solidarity will be what ultimately allows us to triumph, if we can ever truly get it together. I hope everyone has a fun, safe day if they're going out today, and I hope we can think about what acts of solidarity we can begin taking to really make this movement MOVE - beyond a permitted expression of upset into more active resistance.

cat woke me up an hour ago and just been lying awake thinking about how thoroughly and irreversibly RVA has fucked up the trees that once graced this city in areas both rich and poor and most likely done at the behest of dominion. for every foundational shade tree gone 2 or 3 understory replacements

i meant restorative justice for the victims (i thought that was usually its focus). justice for the unrepentant should, imo, consist of doing whatever is necessary to contain them.
