Well, that was a depressing read. Given Trump's apparent personal liking for Putin, Kim Yong-Un, Orban etc, it does seem plausible that a strong, consistent European response would actually have played better in the White House. But the EU's not built for that, and the UK's split hasn't helped.

No matter how often it is repeated, what Moscow thinks "peace talks" and "ceasefire agreements" are for still confuses some Western counterparts.

Russia repeatedly gets what it wants because the other side focuses on ending the war, but Russia instead wants to win it.
