If you haven't heard the news, C Puffer ( @puffer ) just released a new album. During the last few years, I've found that I listen to music almost exclusively while I am working. This is fine - and - for a lot of tasks - my work allows me to put much of my attention into the music. But - I've also noted that there are some styles of music that allow me to - essentially - do both - work and listen and to do both more effectively. But there's really only a few artists who are producing music like this. However, much of what C Puffer does fits very well into that category. Listening to "Live at Circuits in the Woods" yesterday, I kept thinking of it as an ambient-dance album - not dance music played in the background, but real, room-filling ambient music that wanted to slow time to a stop, but also wanted you to move your ass to the beat. And if you worry that ambient does nothing but put you to sleep, don't be scared - this is not all Windham Hill chill - there's spiky bits here and there to give some flavor to the ambience.
