The key is to be into mech-platformers where state-heavy movement with very strict momentum manipulation is the norm
One of these days I need to make a video explaining why I personally like Sonic Lost World.

If you need a little star sticker key jingle every time you complete a screen in an old game to feel good about playing it you are a lesser person to me.

Good difficulty didn't exist until Devil May Cry and later Demon's Souls, every game before that that's hard was just made that way so people would continue renting it or pumping quarters in the machine and no other possible reason whatsoever. I am very smart.
