Court ruling, per CBDLF:

“HB900’s mandatory ratings system is an unconstitutional attempt by the government to compel speech.

The standards for assessing books in HB900 are unconstitutionally vague.

HB900’s restrictions on distributing books impose an unconstitutional prior restraint.”

Another victory for the CBLDF and our co-plaintiffs in our lawsuit to strike down Texas HB900, a recently enacted law that seeks to impose a ratings system on books distributed to Texas schools. Proponents of this law expressly targeted graphic novels, and the ratings system would have effectively been a government-mandated successor to the notorious Comics Code.
As the court ruling below states, the law is unconstitutional on several counts.
• HB900's mandatory ratings system is an unconstitutional attempt by the government to compel speech.
• The standards for assessing books in HB900 are unconstitutionally vague.
• HB900's restrictions on distributing books impose an unconstitutional prior restraint.
Of course, there's a strong likelihood that the state will appeal the ruling to the Fifth Circuit, but the Fifth Circuit did rule in our favor the last time the state tried to appeal the case.

What WotC has done, with collaboration from AP producers & fandom, is taken everything creative and *un-D&D* about great tabletop campaigns with romance, intrigue, etc., and gaslit the world into thinking D&D, the Product, offers those experiences. It does not. It offers tomb raiding & skill checks.

I do want to hand it to D&D on one thing that helps drive its continuing success:

Combinatorics.

Because indie games tend to care more about balance & have smaller scopes/budgets, a PBTA game might have a 12 playbooks when the race/class combos in the 5E PHB alone is closer to 12 squared.

This is from a cursory skimming of some articles on the devs, but from what I can tell they had a reputation as an antifeminist space in China before they made Black Myth. Anecdotal so take me with a grain of salt, but I recall learning about their stances shortly after the game's announcement.
