I am very new to playing an instrument and did not expect to be able to tell the difference in quality so readily.

I am finding getting into playing music is both easier and harder than I expected. Partly, despite lack of formal training I have spent a lifetime listening to the stuff, which helps.

Ukulele update: won an auction that included two ukes (price was just too good), which arrived today. One is a cheapo beater and the other one is one of the better low-end models (concert scale), and oh my gosh is it so much nicer to play.
