I do think he is pretty fucking shallow. But that only speaks to how shit labour are that people are hyped about him. People are desperate for something they can pin some hope on because everything else is so dire right now and labour are making it worse
One of the things I think drives this is the idea that "Everyone already knows that trump/Vance etc lie all the time so it's not new info it won't change any minds"
But this ignores that someone knowing something doesn't mean it is currently salient to them. And media have a role in what is salient
i think it’s noteworthy that a lot of centrist pundits have decided to just take it as a given that jd vance lies constantly and to treat this as almost part of his intellectual program so that only gauche rubes would bother to mention or care about it.
This is objectively correct. You can like a politician, but if they are doing something that isn't merely "not good" but actually bad, you have to be able to call them on it.
