On the one hand, this "I'm powerless!" answer from multiple congressional Republicans is pure garbage.

On the other hand, it's sure not "Trump/Musk are doing a great job!" Which (1) tells you what they're hearing, and (2) will tend to further hurt Trump's popularity.
Rep. Nick Begich (R-Alaska) told constituents that there was nothing he could do to stop DOGE layoffs affecting people in his state. Says said he found out about budget cuts impacting Alaska "on Twitter" and "had no idea these things were going on" in advance.

Perhaps Trump should have just left the nation’s Inspector Generals, the professionals charged with finding waste & fraud, in place instead of firing many of them. DOGE is not a sophisticated strike force joycevance.substack.com/p/the-week-a...

3) be kind to a fed. Buy them a coffee, check on friends and acquaintances, openly support them.
4) Do not purchase anything on Friday, Feb 28- consumer boycott. Prepare during the week.
5) if you can, organize protests or take a leadership role in saving our country. The feds can but are tired.

Weekly pep talk:

For federal employees-
1) do your job well because the work you do matters.
2) don’t violate the law and give them an easy reason to target you. This includes the Hatch Act.
3) treat coworkers, subordinates, and supervisors kindly- this crap is hurting everyone.
4) take breaks.

This 2-part answer is how we get through the next few years.
It's all about contact from reps to neighbors.

We’re all worried. They’re not alone. We’re worried bc we love our country, our communities and our families and friends. And that’s what going to get us through. It’s especially important to get out of our homes and out of our comfort zones and have positive interactions with others on purpose.

Two weeks from now the crew of a nuclear submarine are going to see this email and the subsequent one firing them all.
The President who was doing flyovers at Daytona and golfing through his presidency wants an accounting of every federal employee’s work week or they will be fired. This while Elon Musk won’t account for any of his time to Congress.

The official policy of the United States of America is that having values or believing in the rule of law is the equivalent to having a fetish for watching your wife get nailed by a stranger.

That’s Trumpism.
Can't imagine where they got the idea, but earlier in the week, the White House comms director posted (and then reposted) this.

There is nothing cooler than preventing a democracy from turning into a dictatorship
It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.

Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

When you definitely didn't run your letter purporting that something is not a First Amendment issue by the WH counsel's office—or at least any competent attorney.

Political speech—which is what the WH says the AP Stylebook is in this letter—is core protected speech under the First Amendment.

Raskin: "So who is leading DOGE? Is it the young man who calls himself Big Balls? Is it the racist on the night crew who's proud of the fact he was a racist before all of his friends were racist, and says we should legitimize Indian hate?"

NEW: Law Dork can confirm that, per a memo sent today from Acting Commissioner Dudek, most components of the office (OARO) are being moved to other offices — and that Deputy Commissioner Gina Clemons, who headed OARO, is being moved to be a "senior advisor" in the Office of Communications.
Breaking — The Social Security Administration is dissolving its Office of Analytics Review and Oversight effective 2pm today, an agency source tells me. In a meeting leadership claimed it was part of government-wide mission to “align missions better” & said it was the first of many changes to come.
