It still very much sucks, I need to double down on job hunting, but nothing around here is stable outside the defense contractors. My local economy depends entirely on a thriving federal govt. Moving isn't an option.

Mandatory staff meeting today. No one is fired but I'll be taking half pay for the month of October. I'm out of PTO so on non-training days I have to just be on unpaid leave.

Zero regrets as far as burning all my leave on Australia. 13 training days vs 10 unpaid days - it could be worse.

I know. I didn't know him personally but knew of him through other people. I'm glad he felt a sense of comfort at the end. Based on the people mourning him, it seems like he was an excellent dude.

Hey if you like folk horror you need to check out Fréwaka. It's on Shudder, most of it is in Gaelic, it's that perfect mesh of Catholic trauma and The Old Ways.

RIP to Christopher Mills — an old-school bona fide indie comics creator who did it for the love of the medium, which is the only reason to do it in the first place. He was the kind of guy who makes artist alleys worth walking, and he'll be missed.
