Emma displaying her deep knowledge of political economy: the Competition and Markets *Association*? #r4today

I found the Home Secretary’s suggestion that campaigners against genocide really want the genocide to continue offensive. Even more so just two days later, when it is clear that the ‘peace deal’ we were supposed to celebrate rather than question is already starting to crumble.

Concerned about what the peace means for Palestinians? Concerned whether there will be peace at all? Concerned about accountability for the Israeli genocide? Shabana Mahmood has this to say to you.

Ah, but you forget that ‘AI’ will do all the “writing, presenting, reasoning, evaluation, analysis, research etc” for us. And send us dirty texts as a bonus!

The consolidation of vet practices into a few big corporations, followed by price-gouging and profiteering, is also what happened with funeral directors a while back. The CMA’s hand-wringing won’t get #r4today very far. It’s called monopoly capitalism. It’s how things work.

Russia Today paid him, presumably?

The Hone Secretary seems determined to be in the wrong side of history. And to lose Labour as many elections as she can.

Incontrovertible evidence that buying a Tesla and/or using X/Twitter is directly funding fascism. The UK Government must stop using X as a primary comms channel.

I really think @mrjamesob.bsky.social shouldn’t be live-streaming this victory parade in Jerusalem. It’s embarrassing.

Every policy needs to tested with the question “how will this change my life for the better?” Especially for a struggling government elected on a promise of change.

Everything he's reported to have said in this BBC piece sounds like he's desperately trying to distance himself, knowing that the connection is real and toxic. If the press were investigating Farage with the same enthusiasm they went for Rayner, he'd be done for.

Nigel Farage 'stunned' ex-Wales Reform leader Nathan Gill took bribes
Nathan Gill has admitted taking money for pro-Russian statements as a European Parliament member.

Poor Aura in Any Answers - having to get balance in the question “should Trump get the Nobel Peace Prize?” by reading out a ‘text’ from Anonymous of X saying yes he should. Pathetic.

I see Reform UK are on #BBCQT again tonight, would one of the other panelists kindly ask

Is it fiscally responsible for Nathan Gill to make anti EU, pro Russia statements in exchange for bribes

But for Nigel Farage to make anti EU, pro Russia statements, without bribes?

It will also, of course, reduce productivity in that sector!

Given that many hospitality businesses have restricted their hours to reduce staffing costs (one shift instead of two, reduced transport costs for late finishers, etc) m, not sure how Labour’s new policy is going to help them, or growth. Same amount of revenue, spread more thinly?

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

The CMA is the uber-regulator. But fair point, re competition. That’s why the industry regulators exist - to act as a proxy for the market. Of course, they fail completely at this. But the CMA effectively sets the rules (inc ridiculous models to ‘regulate’ costs and returns on capital employed)

It pains me to say it, but I’m thinking that the Nobel Committee should announce that it will give the Peace Prize to Trump - next year, if a genuine peace in Palestine holds. This for purely instrumental reasons: it would embed Trump’s investment in enforcing it on Netanyahu.

"15 years ago, Polish workers came here to find opportunity. Now Poland is growing twice as fast as we are," says Kemi Badenoch.

Any ideas what may have happened in the interim?

Here we go… there’s no obvious benefit in doing this. Just doing it because we can. Apocalypse looming.

From Donald Trump's Roundtable on Antifa just now —
"Antifa has been around in various iterations for almost 100 years in some instances, going back to the Weimar Republic in Germany."
