As someone stated yesterday, the whole "AI gonna talk so filthy for you, baby" is another sign of desperation. The tech continues not to deliver a fraction of what has been promised so you gotta gin up attention somehow.

the killdozer guy became this only semi-ironic epic hero for the average man who will be oppressed no longer, which is funny, because if you read anything about the background it becomes like 100% clear that he was in the wrong. Which makes sense! His actions are not those of a reasonable person!

More than half isn't all. And more importantly, what's going on that any entity is issuing layoff notices they're rescinding days later. An utter mess being made by some wildly incompetent and immoral people.

Multiple airports are now announcing they will refuse to play Kristi Noem’s government-funded video blaming “Democrats” for the government shutdown.

“We believe the Hatch Act clearly prohibits use of public assets for political purposes and messaging,” one airport said.

Remember, AI bros are pushing outrageousness (“casting” beloved dead performers, inventing AI actors) because they are hemorrhaging cash and need the buzz. Ignore.

Man, it rules when of my students gets better at writing. I'm not arrogant to take credit, I just think people growing rules.

I deeply agree with this. I hate limiting myself to say and its tenses. Other words like explain or recall not just work, but are often far more illustrative of what is happening on the page or in the piece.

Only using said is boring and distracting and makes your writing feel flat and uninspired and the fact that it's been a literary trend for 20 years means I mostly read older works. I don't feel this is unhinged but people are so devoted to this 'rule' it might as well be.

Book publishing, which gets held up as a backward business still operating somewhere in the early twentieth century, has weathered the digital revolution better than the music or film industries, largely by resisting the urge to pivot beyond an item that has served us well for centuries.

CBS News would never put a thinly sourced 'story' by a rookie blogger like this on it's air. Until now. The Free Press isn't a journalism outlet, it's bloggers aren't reporters. This piece is more NYPost than Tiffany Network but I guess that's the goal.

NEW: There’s a disaster unfolding in Alaska right now. And no major network is covering it.

The remnants of Typhoon Halong battered western Alaska overnight. Homes, with people in them, have literally been swept into the Bering Strait.

At least 20 are missing. No comment from any federal agency.

No need for apologies. I really, truly appreciate it. It helps to feel less like I'm floating alone in the proverbial ether.

So I guess I'm just going to do this on my own (or not) while periodically paying a copay to someone who's going to act like I'm going in the right direction.

With regular visits and a manageable drop in calories, I lost like 50 pounds in 5 months. This time? 3 pounds. But no changes suggested in this meeting. I want to scream but what's the point? At who?

I first went back in May at which time the doctor (not the one I worked with previously) gave me a menu on how to eat between 1200-1400 calories a day, made me a follow-up for 5 months later, and, you guessed it, it was telehealth. So, you know, EVERYTHING that derailed me last time.

So I'm going to this weight loss management group b/c pre-pandemic I had great luck with them before, well, the pandemic. Anyway, I had like 3 things I told them ruined me last time: infrequent irregular visits, telehealth only visits, and asking me to drop down to 1200 calories a day.
