"But maybe you touch one life
And the world becomes a better place to be
Maybe you give their dreams another day
Another chance to be free"

That's why I keep going, right there. My symptom profile is high octane nightmare fuel, but as long as I can make a difference, I have something to fight for.

This song hits me hard. It's about living your life to the fullest before you get old, & I essentially entered old my senior years in my early 30s.

Various health issues have massively shortened my life expectancy & given me a bunch of symptoms commonly associated with old age.
The Crüxshadows – Birthday
Roll out of bed, look in the mirror / And wonder who you are / Another year has come and gone / Today is your birthday / But it might be the last day of your life / What will you

On Indigenous Peoples' Day of ALL Days, folks should be super mindful and take time to learn and listen to Native People. We are NOT YOURS, NOT YOUR MASCOTS AND NOT THESE STEREOTYPES.

WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS!

#Autistic people may choose different words to express ourselves than non-autistics, & what we say may likewise be construed very differently than we intended. When an autistic person says “That’s not what I meant,” it’s probably true, & you should take a deep breath before you keep piling on.

My main campaign hasn't had any movement for a bit. There are still quite a few gaps in my gear, and I still do foolish things like pinch pennies from my gig wages to purchase make or break essentials (this month that's a headlamp for suturing).

Every bit helps.
authorwinifred.blacksky.app
Oh Hai 👋🏿

If I can keep these gig contracts steady, the last 15% of this campaign (that I started in October 2022) will go to the bigger ticket items that I still need like neonate appropriate pulse oximeters, for ex., and my licensure exam fees.

This is what I came for.

Azine's informal free housing arrangement is about to end abruptly. We don't know when; it could be at any time. We need to raise money to get her into an Airbnb as quickly as we can manage.

We don't have the resources for long-term solutions, so I'm just keeping her alive as long as I can.
ID: A pond with a duck trailing ducklings on the water & a fox on the shore. Surrounding the lake is a forest of evergreen trees and a snowy landscape. The words are in white with black borders.

Transcript: Azine's Story
Azine travels the world to meet people dear to her. That is her reason for living, as she doesnt know how much time she has left. This goes for everyone, especially with how the world is today. Goes extra for her because of heart-lung disease from birth + a series of embolisms in 2016.

Embolisms are kept at bay by medication, due to having had more than one. Dystonia and seizures, were made worse by Lyme disease (tick bite 2009). MCAS, probably from birth, is made a lot worse by environmental toxins. She takes 4 antihistamines including compounded ketotifen (expensive) in very high doses to keep her skin from peeling off & to keep limited food down.
"I dont have access to health insurance, even though that is mandatory where I was born.Because people with Lyme and ME/CFS are routinely denied healthcare, persecuted, and jailed in psychiatric hospitals. That is why I became a traveler/refugee. That is why my mom, who still lives there, is deep in debt. Because there was never gov. support or funding for me, not even welfare."

I've done all I can out of my own resources. We need your help. Please, boost & share her story, & if you can afford to, donate any amount* you can spare to her mom's PayPal: MadeleineWedemeijer@gmail.com
*Literally $1 helps. Fundraisers with more activity, regardless of the size of the donations, are more successful overall as it motivates people to pitch in. And if you include an encouraging message in the memo line, you'll help to lift the severely flagging spirits of all those involved.

Thread (read all the posts) and quite true. Just ASK animal-related groups that are local: "I'm struggling, do you know of any pet food banks/options around?" because they usually have contacts and might run one themselves.
kristadb1.bsky.social
Gentle reminder: I am seeing more "I cannot afford pet food" posts & if you might face this in the near future/now, I recommend checking your local area's subreddit and posting if anyone knows of local programs for pet food. Many areas have small under-the-radar charities that give out pet food.

I was writing a high school research paper in which I opposed Native whaling. After that experience + some more research, I rewrote the whole thing in favor of Native hunting rights.

Between this, the resegregation of the military, and the retooling of the Department of Justice to focus on (fake) discrimination against white Christians, and eviscerating Civil Rights Act enforcement, they have nearly erased the structural legacy of the Civil Rights Movement.

Find a voting rights org and follow them. Pay attention to grassroots voter orgs on the ground in Southern states. Those organizers know all about unfair elections and we are going to need their knowledge.
