The rules are simple: if you're left wing, you're an activist, if you're right wing, you get to be an academic. This is called being unbiased

He’s a white supremacist who has radicalised himself on social media. He’s a very dangerous man who seems himself as the next Home Secretary.

Nobody had even heard of Katie Lam outside of Westminster until about two weeks ago.

Literally all it takes to be considered "brilliant" and a "rising star" on the right of British politics now is just a willingness to say something slightly more racist than all of your competitors
As a European, can I say that listening to anything JD Vance says is like listening to the advice of an electric drill as it bores into your head.
Congratulations. Inspiring work.

The Trump Action Tracker has an update!

Main change is to break down the five authoritarian domains into ten - this allows for easier understanding of why actions have been logged and more tools for searching / filtering the now 1621 actions.

Would be nice if we had consequences for anything bad at all really. Whole legal system is absolutely hands-off about evils that affect the whole population. One death is a tragedy a million deaths is a statistic, etc etc

Waking up, again, to the sound of two white men on the radio arguing about whether it is ok to be made "mad" by the very sight of black and Asian people on TV. 😒

And BBC question time. Let's not let off the BBC for giving these hatemongers air time over and over again.
Infant mortality being a famously rising statistic.
What is wrong with the USA?

She's Reform. Absolutely no other reason. The BBC is committed to ramming these scumbags down our throats at every opportunity.

For those keeping track, it's now three days since I asked the Conservatives for (fairly basic) details of their policy on revoking indefinite leave to remain, eg whether it would include separating families and if it would work as per Chris Philp's draft bill. Despite several reminders: nothing.
Being from the UK I have only followed this Platner story with passing interest.
Anyway, today I learnt he's a DEMOCRAT...
...jeez, you guys just don't know when to stop. What happened to Nazi's are bad? Is it because you were never bombed in WW2?

That scene of the Welsh BBC correspondent being the only person interviewing Caerphilly's new Plaid AM while the rest of the media interviewed Reform's loser in the background was far too on the nose.
I'm English and it's pretty obvious to me what the intended signal is when people hang up the flag in recent months. Pretending that it's an innocent out-pouring of English pride is either naive or disingenuous. So, you chose, stupid or liar??
"Great work Jim. Have you considered working in our eating disorders department?"
It was four of the victims that didn't want him, hence his withdrawal.
I would be asking him what he means by 'political opportunism' if I were a journalist. Otherwise it's just innuendo.

Michael Gove personally intervened to ensure that a Conservative donor's firm was awarded a multimillion pound covid contract.

Private correspondence reveals that Ciga Healthcare’s Brexit-supporting owner had pushed Gove to “take control” of the process.

The contract was awarded just days later

I thought LLPs were not paid under this system? Why the fuck are they exempt from NICs in the first place???

(Haha, anyway, sorry, I'm barely following the story and certainly not looking for an argument. I take your point re politicisation of income tax.)
True, but we do tax goods and services by social value (cigarettes, private education). I guess it's not a stretch to tax those 'employed' by NHS differently??
I'm obviously not a tax expert, but clearly we do arrange our tax system based on political choices. This doesn't seem much of a stretch.
