Duolingo provides an excellent base of understanding grammar and structure, so at best you can learn to read/write at a very basic level. If your goal is to speak with fluidity, you can only achieve that through speaking with native speakers. No application can do that for you.

Controversial take:
Apps like Duolingo and other like it I feel don’t necessarily teach you to speak the language fluently. More so memorizing 1:1 which to me doesn’t help. I may be wrong. Just basing off of personal experience and use.

So many ppl spent the entire 2010s online trying to find ways to exclude Blackness from their interpretation and analysis of history; the cost of doing so is a level of intellectual and political unpreparedness that cannot meet the current moment in a way that’d be laughable if it wasn’t dangerous.

So a couple people have now hinted at the idea that Black people didn’t have it so bad post-9/11 because Muslims had it bad. This ignores that there were and are a lot of Black Muslims. This also ignores that more than one group of people can be targeted for state violence. It’s never just one group

Either tacos or chicken & rice burritos; if I want a quick meal that looks like it took forever, that Kroger taco seasoning with their chicken (in the can or the package) come in handy. Boil & cook rice for 5 minutes, cook the chicken for 2½, heat tortillas for 30 sec., and food is ready

King Von, xxxtentacion, YNW Melly were all people who had killed someone, but the police never killed them. Either theycwere simplyvthrown in jail or other nameless civilians killed them. I feel like the law is scared of those who have weapons, so they target those they "THINK" has one.

“Eskimo” - they’re the Inuit people. I believe this is considered an insult or slur or at least very offensive to them

“Peanut gallery” - these were the only seats black folk could occupy in theaters. I know many southern teachers loved referring to us as this for laughing in the back of the class
