Huh, I hope that doesn’t spread. It wasn’t on ITA (FKA Alitalia) as of ten days ago.

Wait what? Is this a new rule, or something airline-specific?

Things that are fake:

- Alpha males (debunked by the original researcher)
- MSG causing headaches (never replicated)
- Learning styles (no evidence)

Things that are real:

- People will believe anything if it confirms their priors

Also that’s not how this works: if your prompt is to generate an image, or requires call-outs to other systems, you use a lot more than “one prompt”’s worth of inputs.
I do think this is one of the more solvable aspects of AI (no reason the machines need potable water, for instance).

I've done my time in that particular mine shaft, albeit from the other side of the table — wait, that metaphor got away from me a bit! Anyway: findthethread.blog/Enterprise-S...

Yes! Not a big fan of many of the B2C use cases, and of course they are the ones getting the headlines, but in the B2B world there is a ton of utility — if you are willing to put in some work to get your data house in order.

Also the track record of mega-migrations (“put all of your data in our thing and we will do Big Data ^W^W AI to it”) is, uh, not great. For a start, duration is measured in multiple CIO tenures…

Startups are definitely the early adopters of AI: greenfield development is always easier. Companies that have been around for a while are either in “wait & see” mode or frantically overhauling their data architecture — or quite possibly both, just in different parts of the org chart.

Found on LinkedIn in a post about 'the AI rivers of gold drying up'

That robot's having a piss, isn't it?

We failed entirely with our eldest, as his ADD does not fit well with reading, but Middle Daughter will read absolutely anything if it’s about horses. Bear in mind she goes to school in Italy, so while she’s fluent, English spelling is largely a mystery — or was, until she discovered Pippa Funnell.

For me it’s WhatsApp, which has promised voice transcription for a while, but seems to be rolling it out extremely gradually.
With the amounts Meta is spending on AI, this would seem an obvious feature to improve users’ lives, but noooo, it’s plastic pals in your timeline and Shrimp Jesus.

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

Huh, I was kind of expecting the GA to drop today, but I guess not. I’m not installing Tahoe until 26.1, I’ve heard too many horror stories.

We had that happen in Italy! Milan-Rome used to be one of the most profitable air routes in the world, and had its lunch completely eaten by the Frecciarossa high-speed train. The same thing happened with the Madrid-Barcdelona route. More, please!

That's worth a boost and a follow! Hi from the LinkedIn mines — I have to go there for work, but I always wear protection in case I catch something in there.

I wrote a quick thing about AI this morning and I figured I should post it. I didn't edit, but I hope you like it.

More coming.

It always seemed odd to give credit to Columbus, considered a blundering violent oaf even in his own time, rather than to Amerigo Vespucci — although I suppose he got to give his name to the whole continent, so there is that.

I'm not 100% sure this is an #iOS26 bug, because I don't share my workouts that often — but I have had occasion to do so twice since updating my phone, and both times the result has been this ridiculous cut-off image. And no, there isn't more of it if you click or something; that's all she wrote.
Image sharing a workout from iOS, with a chunk missing from the right-hand side, truncating some of the text.

I have to to Dubai fairly regularly for work, and it’s one place where I always try to minimise the time I actually spend on the ground. Anyone who wants to move there should be hurried on their way, lest they try to make here anything like there.

People keep telling me the UK is so over and they're going to move to Dubai and, like, fine. Go on then. Would you like directions to the airport?

I didn’t grow up with that culture, so I am always being tripped up by US/UK female colleagues getting married and showing up in my inbox with their new name, sowing much confusion. But hey, everybody should do their own thing, except possibly when it comes to what Musk named his kids.
