Go, Aussies!

In unanimous decision, Australia’s highest court is not having Candace Owens. They're denying her a visa, claiming she failed a “character test” according to that nation’s standards.

More of this, please.

Trump doubles the bailout to Argentina, now $40 billion, and Argentina takes all China’s soybean orders away from our American farmers - 7 million tons. Was it Argentina first?

Politico received an initial tip that a Taylor staffer had a swastika neatly pinned to his cubicle during a zoom call. When confronted, the congressman’s press office pretty implausibly sought to present the situation as a police matter, and Politico went along with that in its headline and lede.

Capitol Police called to investigate swastika in GOP congressional office

An American flag altered to include an image of a swastika was found in Rep. Dave Taylor’s office.

What do I know and I'm not saying it's a magic bullet or anything like that but it sure seems to me that Dems should run hard on the Argentina bailout. Not anywhere near the worst thing Trump has done, but i suspect it's unusually clarifying.

Jeffries: "It's perplexing to us that Rs refuse to spend a dime to protect the healthcare of the American people, but somehow the Trump admin found $40b to bail out a right-wing wannabe dictator in Argentina in ways that are also going to continue to hurt our soybean farmers in Iowa & the Midwest"

In more than a dozen states, the average electricity bill has jumped more than 10 percent over the last year — and more increases have already been announced.

The increased prices could become a major political issue. https://wapo.st/4q7l3RD
Soaring electricity bills could be the sleeper campaign issue of 2025
As costs continue to increase, voters are turning their ire toward politicians, shaking up this year’s governors races.

Where California goes, other states follow.
It will take a while, of course.
But this is a good start.

California just banned employers from forcing workers to pay a debt, fee, or penalty to leave their job.

Bosses have increasingly been trapping workers with debts incurred in training and other exploitative fees.

Now that's illegal in the nation's biggest state.

Currently on a flight to Japan watching a Pentagon Assistant Press Secretary (Riley Podleski) work on a document in the open on her laptop. She spent the last hour copy and pasting headlines from articles critical of the Administration’s hostility toward the 1st amendment.

Every wannabe king forgets the same lesson: Americans don’t kneel. The weak call it chaos. The strong call it a wake-up call. The Constitution doesn’t need worshippers. It needs warriors.🔥👇

It's tough to decide what the worst criteria of the Roberts court might be, but yeah, that's up there.
jschrinerbriggs.bsky.social
The empty formalism used to constitutionally forbid diversity-enhancing or remedial action—that to “stop discriminating on the basis of race we must stop discriminating on the basis of race”—is possibly the most invidious trope the Roberts Court has cultivated in our modern legal culture.

‼️ this was a striking moment, to me

Louisiana was basically like 'here come these Black people always asking for more' and Justice Jackson was like, 'that's not what the fuck they're asking for, they're saying: stop discriminating against us'
elienyc.bsky.social
Louisiana: "The plaintiffs came in and said 'we want a second majority-minority district."
KBJ: "NO THEY DID NOT. They said our votes are being dilluted."
Louisiana: "That's the same thing."
KBJ: "No it's not. ... trust me on this."

Ma'am, you just defined communism but called the state the "bourgeoisie."

And you seem to be missing the whole Revolutionary Vanguard and Dictatorship of the Proletariat part of Marxist theory.

Just because the USSR didn't leap to communist utopia doesn't mean it was...capitalist. JFC.

I see the intolerant echo-chamber media elite as a net positive for public health because without them some people would have to throw themselves in front of a bus to slake their lust for victimhood

One could say 'what a disappointment' but Lisa Murkowski's betrayal of her constituents and her country goes well beyond that.

Remember when Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski told a room of nonprofit leaders “we are all afraid”? Then in July, she cast the crucial yes vote for Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” hoping to stay in his good graces. I wonder how she feels today, with Alaska underwater and no help coming.

Griem goes there, arguing in response to Justice Jackson that there can be no race-conscious remedy absent a finding of intentional discrimination.
