Hey look, YouTube is doing a thing that no one asked for, benefits no one, wastes resources, reduces functionality, destroys original content, burdens infrastructure, and worsens the user experience all so they can push a false narrative about tech that fundamentally doesn't work the way they want.

Youtube has announced that all low-res videos (i.e. older ones) are to be automatically AI upscaled to HD.
Creators can opt-out on a per video basis (but the channel may be long abandoned).

When researching props or behind the scenes, old videos are useful, but not if upscaling produces artefacts.

I just introduced a major bipartisan bill with Senators Hawley, Blumenthal, and Britt to stop AI companies from preying on our kids with friendship chat bots that push kids to self harm and self loathing.

What we propose is simple: ban friendship chat bots for kids under 18.

The hurricane was bad. The failure of the levees was worse. The abandonment of the people was a complete travesty. And even now people cannot return home - there are no homes to return to, no money to rebuild them.
I cried as I watched it in "real time." I will cry again.
