The one thing to remember - and it is absolutely crucial - is this: we put five million people in the street in one day. They have the surveillance apparatus, they have the goons, but they don't have The People. If we organize, we will win.

This is one of those "normal republican" assertions that we have been far too respectful of in the past. It's utter bullshit, offensive on its face, and has never been made in good faith by anyone who has taken more then five minutes to think about it.

It does seem like they're dedicated to destroying as much of the country that betrayed them by electing a Black president as they possibly can.

I have lost count of all the things the GOP is openly doing after furiously falsely accusing Democrats of. It's not even projection at this point, it's planning.

BREAKING via WSJ

The Trump administration is planning sweeping changes in criminal division at the IRS.

Full Story: on.wsj.com/3LbVFtK
The Trump administration is preparing sweeping changes at the Internal Revenue Service that would allow the agency to pursue criminal inquiries of left-leaning groups more easily, according to people familiar with the matter.
A senior IRS official involved in the effort has drawn up a list of potential targets that includes major Democratic donors, some of the people said.
The undertaking aims to install allies of President Trump at the IRS criminal-investigative division, or IRS-CI, to exert firmer control over the unit and weaken the involvement of IRS lawyers in criminal investigations, officials said. The proposed changes could open the door to politically motivated probes and are being driven by Gary Shapley, an adviser to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

No, great news like this is necessary to sustain us. Congratulations!

I recently had to calculate the nutrition info in a recipe and went to the USDA website, only to discover this weird banner about the "Democrat shutdown," inserted shoddily into the page. The grossness of it was eye-opening - "fuck you, here's a pile of shit" really is the Trumpist aesthetic.

They're mediocrities furious not to be treated as special. It's why they believe minorities are being unfairly promoted over them. And yet every time they get the opportunity to do one of these jobs they're supposedly more qualified for, they either fuck it up or outright commit crimes.

And Jared Golden. Who breathes something, but I'm not ready to call it fire.
silkscreenfiend.bsky.social
Right! Which, while it isn't Platner's fault, makes him explaining his open fondness for Josh Hawley a fairly important test in a primary.
silkscreenfiend.bsky.social
Maybe I'm built different, but I don't understand why the abuse of public trust this represents doesn't warrant profoundly more severe punishment. These people committed their crimes under color of law; they should pay twice as heavily as someone committing the same crimes as a freelancer.

What are the chances that JD himself isn't in there under a phony name?
silkscreenfiend.bsky.social
The problem of course is that Calvinball remains Calvinball, and as long as a) the Democrats refuse to do court reform, and b) these lawless justices control the court, Calvin wins every time.
silkscreenfiend.bsky.social
There is no excuse for *every single elected Democrat* not getting in front of a camera and demanding that *every single elected Republican* denounce this crap, until none of these people have jobs. The time to start attacking the entire GOP is years ago, but now will have to do.

POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

Kathy Hochul is who everyone thought Gretchen Whitmer was, and Gretchen Whitmer is who everyone thought Kathy Hochul was

That the two strategic outlooks seemed to shift almost in a direct mirror of each other may not be deliberate but it is fascinating

I resent having to give Kathy Hochul credit but sometimes she deserves it.
silkscreenfiend.bsky.social
She is an absolutely ruthless politician. She has no sentimentality whatsoever, so she's unburdened by fantasies of reconciling with this GOP. Her concomitant weakness was always that she had no compunction about cutting deals with scumbags, but she now seems to have recognized that's not an option.

I am not lying.
and if I was
youd have given some evidence rather than ad hominem attacks

Its been calculated. Not to mention shooting ourselves in the foot economically with Russia sanctions. All so you can (one day maybe) say "haha Putin u lost, my team won".

Cut from the same cloth as the Nazi YR leadership that just got their texts published by Politico. These people need to be contained.

Yeah, exactly. It's not like Mills is a centrist, and at 77 she's older than is ideal, but hardly decrepit. If the voters think she has 6 more years of "see you in court" left in her, they should send her to DC. I like Platner too. A primary will clarify a lot.
silkscreenfiend.bsky.social
I think they get the stakes, but think (probably wrongly! I agree!) that the best way to approach them is with the "safest" candidate they can find. But I also think one cure for that kind of terrible strategic thinking is a robust primary.
