Introducing the Countess Battoria.

She coiled around Blair, dress hissing on the floor as she circled. Blair felt her breath catch. She had no tools left to resist the countess. Blair felt dizzy, light headed. She had only her own wits and her own will. And she was mortal. The woman before her was decidedly not mortal.

What was it Nadia had said? Everyone succumbs. Blair stared at the countess' crimson lips. She wanted those lips. Her gaze drifted down the dress the countess wore, rolling over the curves of the immortal woman's body. She felt captive, as if her actions belonged to somebody else. She felt like a mouse frozen before a viper. But more than that, she wanted the viper to strike.

The countess took Blair's chin in her hand and pulled her into a kiss. And Blair found herself not resisting. She felt a jolt of pain as the countess bit Blair's lip, and then the pain was replaced by ecstasy. What was she feeling? She could taste the copper of her own blood, but the feeling sent shivers rippling through her skin. Her legs weakened, and countess stepped in and slid an arm around Blair's waist and pulled her into an embrace.

Of our 5 antagonists, only 2 have had speaking roles in Far Removed. We get to learn a lot more about all of them in the sequel. One villain is vain and paranoid. Another may harbour a noble streak. Prismer notices the nuances more than Oklas does.
