When I worked for Santa Fe Public Schools as a comms director, I innocently went to the HR director to discuss not scheduling director meetings (no food allowed) over lunch break because people were HUNGRY and she screamed at me and said "You are not entitled to eat, suck it up."

Gonna beat the drum again. Streaming services pay most artists shit. Yes, get rid of Spotify, but if you want the artists you like to be able to afford to keep making music BUY THEIR MUSIC. You can buy downloads as well as CDs & LPs from Bandcamp, HDTracks and others - no need to buy from Amazon.

I remember when I got laid off in 2008, I had no idea my insurance was $1500/mo until I got a cobra bill I couldn’t pay. So I kind of get it, but in 2025 you need to be more savvy.

Also, the vast majority of people I know with W2 jobs do not understand that their insurance is outrageously expensive too, but the costs are hidden. This could be money they get paid in salary or retirement benefits all going to subsidize for-profit insurers.

We used to have fareless square here and I went downtown so much more and spent money there because it was so easy to get around. The entire country of Luxembourg has no fares and people love it so much the demand for transit has exploded! It’s great!
