I guess it's intro time, right?

Name's Rob. I'm primarily a programmer (gameplay &UI), but I'm also big into exploring gaming's past - which I do by making videos about them.

Looking forward to meeting cool folks!

If you want everything I'm up to, it's all here: https://linktr.ee/hellfire64

A screen shot of Innchanted, the last game I helped out on. A screen shot of "Invasion of the Emerald Saucers" a game I wrote for the Spectrum Next in 2023. The thumbnail for my video on "Dungeon Hunt", a modern dungeon crawling RPG for the Atari 8-bit Computer Family

On the channel today, Kula World (or Roll Away if you're American) -- one of the PS1's most mind-bending puzzlers, and a truly great, highly creative game that goes for frankly absurd second-hand prices today. www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_AX...

Sat down and hooked it up, and boom, it worked!

It's nothing ground breaking - but a solution for the computer-controller cars in my racing game prototype to slow down without writing stupendous amounts of code is a relief.

Just got to set up the other tracks, before I can onto the next bit...

Nothing like waking up and having an idea pop into your head about solving a particular design challenge in your game proto.

Thankfully I’ve got it written down to try later on after I go do errands.

If I didn’t have to run a quick errand, I’d have probably gone straight up to start working on it.

Was luckily a flash of inspiration whilst having breakfast.

Frosty is ready for summer 😎 We're excited to reveal the new look for our December show!

Frosty Mini will be a shorter showcase (compared to Frosty Games Fest in June), but it will still be packed with some of the coolest games made in Australia & Aotearoa, and a chocka-block Steam event to boot 🎮

Everyone can now read this fresh piece on Kirby's debut adventure!

Managed to sort it before dinner - so PREPARE TO QUALIFY for the next episode which can be viewed early over on Patreon & Ko-Fi!

(Also, I’m going to lose a bit of time over the next few weeks, so wanted this sorted before all that. Thanks for understanding…)

Next vid is rendering!

Once I proof it, I’ll throw it up for supporters on Patreon/Ko-fi.

Given the time, I expect won’t be until after dinner.

Will apologise in advance that it’s a smaller episode - needed to get something out & still a bit drained from Games Week.

Something new from me!

Pac-Man World 2: Re-Pac is interesting in as a full-on remake, but when it's up against some rad recent platformers (y'know what I'm talking about), it's a bit of a tough sell.

TFW you can start feeling the post-con sads hit.

On one hand, it took longer this time, so I guess that's a good thing, as at least I got the script and voice work sorted for next vid before it hits.

So I can take a little break to cheer myself up before cracking on with the edit.

Yup. It's ridiculous how all those pilot programs have shown it'll help, but most governments just aren't willing to go down it.

I know it'd remove a lot of stresses right now for me - and let me put that time towards projects!

I have a lot of feelings about govt flunkies like this.

But if I express them, I will only get angry, and that'll just make me want to cry.

(Because that seems like the way things go after I get incredibly made at something...)

Labor's employment minister rep admits that payment suspensions "cause harm", but they're "an important part" of the (unlawful) mutual obligations system, because

"At the end of the day we want ppl to get off payments and find a job"

gross 'best form of welfare is a job' stuff from the ALP here

Some 16-bit hack and slash action today with BLADES OF VENGEANCE for Mega Drive! This game had a bit of a tepid reception on its original release, but I really like it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5ic...

I can see where you're going with that. The WC games had a lot of great fighter designs.

Remember some folk doing some mini prints of various fighters too! Kind of wonder if there are templates to download to print one's own.

That's actually pretty tough!

If I can think of one though, I'd probably want the Dreadnaught from Independence War. Loved the design of that ship in a lot of ways.

Nice render of it from the supplimentary material which came with it for reference!

I kind of dig seeing weird little projects like this - kitbashing a model based on the cover art to Asteroids on the 7800.

(Also, there's some other cool projects on their channel worth having on in the background for artistic funsies!)
