This is one major reason why nothing meaningful is being done about the mass of chronic illness from Long Covid.

Doing something requires acknowledging there is a problem, and the strategy is that there is no problem, stop worrying and consume.
Which makes the fact that all governments ended up adopting this strategy so much worse.

They adopted it with a slight delay, but all the same ideas and language have become mainstream.

Zero accountability for this. A crime in plain sight.

The Great Barrington Declaration remains one of the best-timed confidently-wrong statements ever published. Usually there's some wiggle room in the data when it comes to science, medicine, public health, etc; it's rare to make a big generalized assertion that is instantly proven wrong.
It's really notable that it isn't just the politicians lying about this, although the lies are roughly the same.

When the experts who hold positions of authority are also lying, things have gone completely wrong.

And they sure have. What a bunch of cheap lies.

Medicine continues to do **** all about post/persistent infection illness, leaving the patients on their own yet again.
She then asks if there should be a public statement made?

Whitty *confidently* asserts that most parents already know about Long Covid so there's no need.

Nobody took post/persistent infection illness seriously. You now have 2 to 3 million affected. Why did the medical profession not take this seriously? Questions have to be asked.
Whitty says that he didn't mention LC in kids because it was already being discussed in other forums and didn't feel he needed to. 🙄

He also didn't want to say anything until there was "scientific consensus" from the scientific community.

No one is responsible for this. Nothing is being done about it with the scale and urgency that is needed.

No one is responsible for the fact that no one is responsible and nothing is being done about it.

No leadership to be found anywhere. Just pure failure all-around.
In part because there is a decades-long record of this being neglected to disastrous outcomes and mass misery.

Thousands of people loudly warned in early 2020 that this would be significant. Millions more have since.

Still nothing at all. Zero progress made because of systemic negligence.
The mass of data showing how significant the problem of Long Covid, itself on top of decades of negligence and dereliction of duty with similar illnesses, is indisputable.

Medical authorities and experts know more than enough, they just choose to do nothing.
Sometimes the obvious has to be said, but: one of the reasons why chronic illnesses like Long Covid are so ruinous is precisely because medicine denies and dismisses them.

Illness is terrible in itself. Illness with zero meaningful support is just cruelty and ruin.

Reminder: The DecodeME team want to do a related genetic study with the samples they have collected already but unfortunately don’t have the funding yet:

1) We’ve just published our second instalment on the DecodeME results, this timing zooming in on the genes associated with ME/CFS.
But quacks like Wessely only do what's good for quacks like Wessely. No different than Musk in this regard. Just a fool elevated far above his meagre talent.

It explains a lot that he is celebrated by his peers, when you consider medicine's massive failure in dealing with ME/CFS and Long Covid.
The appearance of saving money, anyway.

It would have actually saved money to solve the problem. The costs incurred would have been turned into income years ago. In addition to the misery toll.

Quacks like Wessely save governments money the same way Musk's DOGE does: not at all.
Yup. None of that "history will judge them" crap.

When history "judges" people, it's because no justice was done.

Judge them, with actual judges, for all the harm they committed. We can end this cycle of nightmarish misery, even if they insist on continuing.
Book smart people can be dumb as hell. This guy is a hubristic fool, and he has always been happy making life worse for as many people as possible.

It's amazing how even in medicine awful people get promoted ass-backward, not in spite of their incompetence, but because of it.
But a lot of what there is to complain about here, especially "psychosomatic mental illness" that does not improve with any treatment, because the idea & treatments are wrong, has been the natural outcome of his awful work.

Same thing as Trump voters who got what they voted for and hate it.
This asshole has been happily misdiagnosing people with chronic illnesses as mentally ill for decades. He bears huge responsibility for this.

Real mental illness is not over-diagnosed, if anything it's significantly under-diagnosed.

"The evidence has been building for years and has been consistent; COVID causes brain damage.

Despite the clear evidence, we’ve continued to infect the population, not once, but repeatedly, with no plan to end the onslaught of reinfections."

Nobody has Long COVID, but everybody has brain fog, cognitive decline and memory loss. I talk about the overwhelming scientific evidence that COVID damages the brain, and the overwhelming social unwillingness to acknowledge it in my latest:

1) We’ve written an article about the DecodeME results: what the study measured, what the results show, and why its findings are important.
It has been disastrous from the start.

It has been disastrous for decades.

It's not 9 months of a failed government that recently did that.
Basically: the medical profession has performed equally poorly on an open book exam with unlimited time and interim gradings as they are doing under a demolished medical research and health care infrastructure.

Frankly, I find that nothing but a cheap excuse.
That point would be much more convincing if anything good was being done about Long Covid elsewhere, or in the 4 years of normal operations under the Biden administration.

Instead there is literally no difference: Long Covid is ignored same as it was, same as chronic illness for decades before.

Disinformation straight from experts and authorities themselves.

Disinformation barely any different than what the conspiracy fantasy communities have been saying.

Failure by design, their refusal to do anything amply recorded. Those systems deserve to be smashed into the ground.
