If you think that black and brown faces in advertising is linked to "legitimate concerns" about mass migration, it does suggest that you think that all black and brown people are foreigners. Which, for a party whose current leader is black and whose previous leader was brown, is quite something.

I know this is obvious. And I know we all know this.
But if the President can raise taxes because an advert annoyed him, without even consulting Congress, then the US constitution is simply not functioning as intended.

The post from the Reagan Foundation is just complete gibberish.

The ad did not, in fact, misrepresent Reagan's views. But the idea that anyone needs the Reagan Foundation's goddamn permission to use the publicly broadcast official remarks of a former president and/or edit them for brevity is crazy

"Let's not forget, when we remember the service and the sacrifice with this poppy, that the people who bled and died for our democracy and our freedom, weren't just my grandfather who looked like me & worshipped the same God, but people across Empire & Commonwealth, who were Muslim, Sikh & Hindu'

Are the right ok?

This is next level of "journalistic* " slop.

If Reform do get into government, the media organisation whose response will most closely resemble the cravenness seen in the US will be the BBC - probably even more than the right wing press
Nothing on the BBC Radio news this morning. Nothing I could find on their website. This is an MP from the party whose lead in the opinion polls normally ensures them wall-to-wall coverage. She spouts racist nonsense for which even she feels obliged to apologise. What on earth are they playing at?
Reform’s Sarah Pochin forced to apologise after claiming adverts 'full of black people' drive her 'mad’ | LBC
The Runcorn and Helsby MP was responding to a viewer live on air who complained about the demographics of advertising.

Off the top of my head, there have been four egregious examples of weapons grade public racism in the last couple of weeks - Jenrick; the Express hack; Captain Concrete & the Reform woman. The way they are treated by employers, punters & wider media, will directly influence how much more we see.

Can’t say I know much about the powers of the Irish president but it’s interesting that this woman ran as a left-wing independent, won 63% of the vote, was lauded by her opponent, and is succeeding the man who took his adorable dogs everywhere. Seems a proper country.
Independent left-wing politician Connolly wins Irish presidency in landslide
Catherine Connolly, a veteran lawmaker on the far left of the Irish political spectrum, was elected president by a landslide margin on Saturday in a stinging rebuke to the recently re-elected centre-right coalition.

Diversity in advertising is a sign that brands assess that their customers value diversity. And hence that they should try to associate themselves with that value. Its a potentially encouraging sign about the direction our society is going in. Unless, of course, you're a racist.
Reform UK MP Sarah Pochin, “It drives me mad seeing adverts full of black people, full of Asian people, full of anything other than white"

Followed by that time Sarah Pochin said, "My kids say: mum, you're such a moron" 👀
The messages they’re promulgating are that; (I) their products are suitable for people irrespective of ethnicity; (ii) (less intentionally) people of different ethnicities a get along just fine. I’m happy with both of these messages.

This is not sustainable you would think. Something has to change.

Question is, SNP's stance in UDI, Westminster's stance on a referendum, or Scottish people's stance on the Union.
It seems it’s only a matter of time for Scotland to become independent.

Sarah Pochin is officially a racist piece of shit.

She's the kind of right-wing snowflake who gets triggered by seeing black and Asian faces in TV adverts.

This is who Reform UK are!

I agree. X is now a cesspit flooded with accounts provoking ethnic hatred, fear of vaccination and opposition to green policies. It looks highly orchestrated, most likely be enemies of democracy and peace in the west.
The UK and the EU need to ban X, and ban it yesterday.
Once again Elon Musk has stoked far right violence in Ireland or England.

When Massachusetts passed a "millionaires tax" in 2023, conservatives claimed the rich would flee.

But two years later, they haven't — and MA has collected $5.7B for infrastructure and public education.

A reminder that positive change can still happen at the state level.

I have one slight disagreement with this post.

There is at least one story bigger than that of a president instigating a plot to end U.S. democracy.

And that is the story that a president is instigating his *second* plot to end U.S. democracy.

Your regular reminder that we desperately need to overturn Citizens United and get big money out of politics.

It is among the worst Supreme Court decisions in history.

It corrupts our political system every day.

X is an absolute cesspit. Just popped over and it’s flooded with antivax, anti climate change, Reform and MAGA accounts to the point of being unusable. Somebody who is unfriendly to peace and democracy is paying for this excrement for sure.
