A fascinating insight into the cataloguing and preservation of UK film collections, some of which are at very real risk of being lost forever without the hard work and dedication of people like Film Are Fabulous. Recommended listening.

The stunning west door of St Botolph's Priory in Colchester, which was founded c. 1093. Largely built from recycled Roman bricks, it was dissolved in 1535 and is now a stately ruin. #MedievalMonday

Someone's going round the village putting pumpkins on street signs which is infinitely nicer than the local racists going about with flags isn't it?

Take a moment to slow down and reconnect with your two headed horsedog.
A flyer taped to a post. It advertises a sound healing session for you and your dog. AI has been used to create an image of people sitting cross legged alongside their canine chums, one of which has two heads. Nice.

This clay pipe bowl once depicted a cyclist, but it's been rolling around in the shingle so long that the design is barely identifiable; I found it among the debris at the top of the foreshore. It probably dates from the 1880s when the safety bicycle came onto the market and became hugely popular!
The bowl of a clay tobacco pipe, on which you can still just make out the relief image of a person riding a bicycle, but it's very very worn! The other side of that pipe bowl, which is even more broken and worn - you can't make out the image at all. A picture of that pipe bowl lying on the shore on top of a pipe of debris, where I found it.

This, by crikey. I was just talking about multi-camera TV the other day, and how, yes, it can be stagy, but it's fast to shoot, produces better performances, and if you lean into sets and trust to the viewer's suspension of disbelief, it's cheaper, and that means more drama and more risk-taking.

The death of multi-camera TV: a thread. I know most of you will know the technical parts of this (and may have read it in the other place) but bear with me. 1/ 🧵

I adore Kendal Mint Cake. This would be the advent calendar for me.

I keep getting adverts for a Kendal Mint Cake Advent Calendar, and as someone who has choked down vast quantities of Kendal Mint Cake while dangerously close to hypothermia, on an exposed cliff in a storm, desperately inching towards a safe place to stop and camp... I cannot think of anything worse.

There was a guy called in the 60s called John Cura who took 250k 'tele-snaps', up to 80s shots per programme, which he sold to actors/directors. In some cases, his shots are all that remain of lost TV episodes, including Doctor Who.
