The best help I can ask for is more patreons. Right now I’m receiving about $450/mo from Patreon. This supplements the income I get from working at Taco Bell, about $1200/mo. More Patreon = less Taco Bell, more writing, more road trips, more life on my terms

My debut novel, Exit Ghost, is modern witchy girl Hamlet at the Jersey shore

a scammer who emailed me recently said "The way [it] blended witchcraft, grief, and revenge into a compelling narrative made for an unforgettable reading experience"
happy Sunday

buy Exit Ghost (and review it and tell your friends and don't worry about the dog because he is safe and fine)

meme of tropes pointing at a book cover, with the Exit Ghost cover in the middle. From the top, going clockwise, the things pointing at the book say
1. a very good dog
2. disaster bi
3. Revenge?
4. ride or die female friendships
5. the beach
6. witches
7. messy grief

The decline of third spaces and hangouts, such as malls, video rental places, arcades & skate parks has been a direct result of the rise of convenience and has also been objectively bad for society as a whole. Its not that everyone HAS to socialize, but having no option to without bars is a failing.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?
Please send food especially the blueberry kind bars and the epic meat bars. I am charged too much rent to be able to buy much of my own food, this is a critical pillar of my diet
I know Amazon is evil but as a disabled person I rely on it especially for shelf stable foods, hygiene, dog supplies, and other material needs. I appreciate any gifts

I am going to escape the financial and emotional abuse at my mom’s house in April when my car is paid off and can no longer be used as a tracking device. I am trying to raise $1000 towards a moving van, gas, and the labor of a moving crew for 1 day. Anything helps. Please and thank you.
I gratefully accept tips, donations, whatever you want to call them

Controversial opinion but I think working at Taco Bell I should be able to afford food, shelter, medicine and occasional fun

Taco Bell, where I see open containers of alcohol every single day in the drive thru

Taco Bell, where people let their children run around barefoot

Taco Bell, open till 4 am, so we see literally everyone else going home

It’s not the routine horrors of my job at the care home though

Heading into another late night shift in the drive thru of Taco Bell where abuses by drunk tourists are becoming common place. Help me escape and get back to writing and philosophizing about my bizarre life adventures.

My closing manager died of an overdose this morning. My day shift manager just walked out. Our Taco Bell is operating with no managers. The people making your food are not ok

Please send food items. This is a critical pillar of my diet. I need easy things to eat when I’m in pain recovering from working at Taco Bell
I have a wish list, this allows me to not spend my days off at target or cvs, there are little treats that would be nice to have

Half my coworkers at Taco Bell are homeless. Some live in their cars. One guy literally lives under a bridge. Apartments around here start at $2000/mo but I could rent a dilapidated trailer with plastic sheeting for doors for $850/mo
People are homeless because they can’t afford rent.

Because capitalism wrings out every piece of productivity from people while just barely maintaining their survival so they can continue to work.

Because suffering on the streets is a threat to make you go clock in.

It’s not a personal failure.

As a drive thru operator on the night shift, I help Taco Bell process around $5000 worth of orders. I make about $90 per shift

Here I go, into my highly compressed 3 day work week. I work three 10 hour shifts in the Taco Bell drive thru, Thursday Friday Saturday nights. Our three busiest and worst shifts. No one wants to talk to customers so over my year and a half here I’ve become the drive thru star.

Our VP invented a "virtual commute" and now we have to prove we walked before logging in
Yesterday we got a memo saying burnout is caused by the lack of a commute, so leadership launched Virtual Commute. At 8 sharp we must go outside, walk for at least 12 minutes, and upload a selfie to a Teams folder called Morning Proof. They said it is optional, then added a line that participation will be visible on performance reports. the template asks for steps, weather, and a reflection like " what did you learn during your walk". My reflection at 8, I learned that I hate reporting my feet.
This morning I tried doing laps in my hallway, phone in pocket, because it was raining sideways. The app flagged my location as insufficiently outdoors and sent me a gentle reminder to find fresh air. A coworker forgot and got a calendar invite named Coaching on Healthy Routines. meanwhile my actual work started late because the folder was full of 200 photos of wet sidewalks. I can ship code, I can answer tickets, I cannot fight SharePoint at sunrise. I set my status to Walking to work and sat down at my desk.

At my Patreon you can read years of my writing, from memoir to short fiction and poetry, and my 3 years of Covid interviews. Join for $1/mo (or more!) and drastically improve my life! Thank you

The world’s first Cactarium and one of its resident tortoises, Tank. Palm Springs, CA.
A greenhouse packed with gorgeous and unusual cacti and succulents, ranging from from the towering and torsioned to the wooly and white to the pendulous and tentacular Tank, an African spurred tortoise, eating a prickly pear. He has robust, thickly scaled gray legs and a tan shell with a grid of adjacent, almost conical peaks made of stacked concentric rings. A creature that exudes an air of the primordial, seemingly plucked from the time of dinosaurs. A large green coral cactus with rounded, undulating, rippled branches. If Van Gogh painted a cactus it would look like this. A stapelia bloom, aka starfish flower. Star shaped. Maroon around the edges, pink in the middle, with many fine zigzagging yellow lines. Rafflesia vibes. A fly rests on one petal.
