And yet again a massive protest in NYC is scheduled on a Saturday morning when many Jews are in shul.

I’m not saying don’t do Saturday. But would Saturday at 2 be so bad? Give the Jews a chance to daven. Don’t ask us to choose between Shabbat services and praying with our feet. Especially in NYC ☹️

I frequently say you don't need to protest. You don't! There are a thousand other ways to push back on fascism if protesting doesn't feel comfortable or safe for you!

But if you CAN go, this 10/18 #NoKings thing is really a key protest to participate in. Be part of it, friends.

NO KINGS, y'all! October 18! Find a rally near you and GO!

Again, it is a full-blown federal felony crime for anyone in the White House or Executive Office of the President to order tax investigations into anyone.

And it's not just a crime to DO it, it's even a federal crime for an employee not to REPORT such an order to the Treasury Inspector General.

Trump's conversation with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is caught on a hot mic. Hard to tell exactly what they are talking about, but Subianto asks Trump about meeting Eric Trump and Don Jr, who supposedly have nothing to do with government while they run the family business.

It would really behoove Americans, who live in a vast country of over 300 million people, to remind themselves that Israel is a tiny country the size of New Jersey with a population of less than 10 million.

Has anyone considered how the Board of Elections would function if working only in alternate years?

Because virtually all Jews today are descended from the Pharisees, the use today of Pharisees from the NT is often perceived as a dog whistle re Jews or someone who has no problem insulting Jews. That’s why it’s always good to learn history!
rabbir.bsky.social
There are some parts of the Christian Bible that are actually historically accurate re Jewish practice. I.e. we have learned about synagogue rituals from the description of what Jesus did there. But the money changer story is generally not well understood.
rabbir.bsky.social
I’m not a Christian Bible expert (obviously). But understanding the historical context helps to see that stories with a villain that name Pharisees was a much safer route than, for example, naming Rome, which was in fact the only authority that could have killed Jesus.

The Jews were also sectarian at the time that Jesus lived. Main 3: Sadducees, Essenes and Pharisees. The first two no longer exist. For the last almost 2000 years 99% of Jews are spiritual descendants of the Pharisees.

Jesus was a Jew. Followers after his death were one of the very numerous sects in Judea and the Near East. They mostly still considered themselves Jewish. That underwent a big change after: Rome cracked down on Jews, Paul & others started recruiting pagans and the NT was compiled to promote this.
rabbir.bsky.social
Reminding everyone that the NT wasn’t written down until long after Jesus died. There were agendas then that didn’t exist when Jesus was alive. Lots of history here. But succinctly, between the time that Jesus died and the NT was written, Rome had destroyed the Temple & expelled the Jews from Judea.

Is this “America first“?

Seems bad?

Mike Johnson: "We're so angry about it. I mean, I'm a very patient guy, but I've had it with these people. The theory we have right now -- they have a hate America rally that's scheduled for October 18 on the National Mall. It's the pro-Hamas wing and antifa people ... "
