My favorite Struzan story is that he was doing the poster for Indy at Disneyland, but they didn't have the rights to Ford's likeness. Fed up with working around the problem, Struzan just called Ford and was like, "hey, can I use your face for this," and Ford said, "if it's for you, absolutely."

My book comes out today! It’s sad and funny and a little spooky and a lot mysterious and very weird, and you can buy it wherever fine books are sold in indie stores bookshop.org/p/books/happ...

"I’m selling movies, yes. But if I can do it with art, with beauty, in a way that reaches people and touches them... that’s what makes me happy." - Drew Struzan

RIP Drew Struzan - a man whose talent and imagination etched onto so many minds throughout the last 40+ years.

His art & posters are some of the first visuals I think of when I think about cinema - an invitation to watch these stories and worlds.

A massive loss 💔

ACTUALLY, I have a theory that most books enter a cultural "uncanny valley" 20-25 years after release, where the culture has shifted just enough they're not contemporary anymore, so new readers can't directly relate, and they stay in the valley for about 50 years until they're clearly historical

Is there, like, an interregnum during which a book should be gracefully retired, until such time as it becomes "a classic, an artifact of its times"?

Enormous puffballs after (at last) a little rain in Maine. So far a beautiful pasta with puff parmigiana, a cream of moon soup, and a lot of reverence for these resonant beings. Any more ideas for meals? 🌱 #fungi

Perks of waking up early - got to bake this beautiful #bread loaf.

Kitchen smells amazing! 🍞 🍜
A large, freshly baked loaf, with a domed shiny brown top, resting and cooling off on a silver wire rack. Inside view of an oven with warm, golden light. A silver bread tin in which white bread is being baked. This photo has been taken just at the beginning. The top is beginning to dome and the edges have brown spots forming on it. Inside view of an oven with warm, golden light. A silver bread tin in which white bread is being baked. This is towards the end of baking time - the loaf has risen evenly and beautifully, acquiring a deep golden brown colour during the process. Side view of the silver tin and the shiny, golden brown top of the bread loaf that's about to come out of the oven.

books should have an anti-acknowledgements section where the author talks shit about all the people who fucked them over while they were trying to write the thing. not bc I personally want to write one but bc I love gossip

I thought the Alien tv show was only decent but the best part by far was this weird Alien-goat creature. Amazing visual which is now stuck in my head.
