trans people aren't being grandiose when we say we built this site. musk's hostility to us made us the first adapters, the proof that people wanted a twitter clone with fewer features. this site's existence is a result of a right wing agenda to kill us all.

I genuinely have found stoic philosophy (and, weirdly despite it being in many ways an opposite, sceptical philosophy) very comforting and helpful in letting me fight on for this sort of purpose.

As the mod who tamed a big news site's notoriously annoying comment section that serially harassed many of the site's authors, it's 100 percent obvious that the problem here is the same problem I solved back then.
A moderation team can't earn buy in from a community they're openly contemptuous of.

then let people self-moderate. we have labelers, block lists, and other tools at our disposal. if you truly want to be hands-off and focus on architecture, then don't moderate. don't suspend accounts at all. be consistent.
