Mari Lwyd drawing to finish up the year. Apologies for the glare at top left, it’s a sod trying to get decent photos of graphite sometimes :D

Ok it is #PortfolioDay again and I'm still not looking for work but would love your support either here on bSky or elsewhere. I'm an ageing Scotsman with less time on my hands everyday but I want to create and enjoy doing it.
Painting. A wooden gate leading to a field, the gate has the words 'ONE WAY STREET' badly painted on it in white paint. The field has old bracken that is turning golden in the fading summer light, above the sky is cloudy and in the distance some signs of trees and a distant town.

Hello, I’m Sandy Jarrell and I draw and color. Here’s some sequential work! On this #portfolioday, unlike most, I’m actively seeking gigs.

From AHOY’s Toxie Team-Up 3 Norse Mythology 2 issue 6, breakdowns by P. Craig Russell, letters by Galen Showman. The Legendary Lynx! Colors by Grey Allison, Letters by Jack Morelli. Words by Alex Segura. Legion of Superheroes dance party, from Jimmy Olsen’s SuperCyclopedia
Just pay TAs more and reduce class sizes if you want kids to receive support. You can also give some teachers more money too I guess:)
Hoped you’d like. The time travel one? Yeah, very nice art.
A school won’t likely have many TAs without additional funding gained by children with additional needs. Also, we focus on all kids needs (ie, bright kids needing extra challenges), we’re just aware of specific SEN things. Also, some parents should probably be quiet.

Spooky season is upon us folks - whos that knocking at the door!? #startrek #startrekfanart
star trek fan art illustration - a woman crouches behind a console with a phaser rifle as a borg enters the room she hides in.
Not seen Requiem For a Dream, but…

Pickled beetroot
Cabin in the Woods
Either Don’t Look Back in Anger by Oasis, or Benson Boone’s Beautiful Things.
Doing this to keep the chain of Requiem For A Dream hate going

Cauliflower (makes me feel ill for some reason)

Requiem For A Dream (a hilariously bad, pompous film)

Heavyweight Champion Of The World by Reverend & The Makers
"Introduce yourself using only one food you refuse to eat, one movie you'll never watch again, and one song you can't stand"

Octopus (that’s like eating a dolphin!)

also Requiem For A Dream (a rotten, rotten film)

Rude by Magic (embarrassed that this even exists)

It's been a weird year for my drawing.

It kind of peaked using a computer and I wasn't able to sustain or replicate the results I was getting.

With all the Ai shenanigans going on at the minute, my response is to go back to basics and draw freehand with a brush pen.

Drawing direct.

I am trying to get back to basics.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

I think it's been announced so I'm safe enough to say @lucysullivan.bsky.social & I have a strip in this, rescued from the wreckage of a certain anthology fiasco...

Lucy is one of my favourite creators and people and I bought every issue of A1 and Deadline ever printed, so this means a lot to me.
We have a DATE!

And the CLOCK is TICKING...

Family film night with Housebound. As good as I remembered.
Film poster for Housebound, 2014
The kiddie paints are somewhere between watercolour and gouache. Quite like them, but maybe that’s because it feels less ‘proper’.
