what if we didn’t have to worry about whether ICE was wearing masks because ICE no longer existed
"Swalwell: When we’re in majority, ICE masks coming off"

I would be happy with some masked events, especially if there is good filtration!

Learned that an anonymous outside expert on submersibles did an interview with the OceanGate Titan investigation, and they released a transcript, with all the names redacted. The first line of his first answer? "I'm sure you're familiar with my film Titanic."

11 Q. So how did you get yourself started into submersible
12 operations?
13
A.
Well, I'm sure you're familiar with my film Titanic.
When I
14
set down the path to make that film, the first thing that I did
15
was arrange to be introduced to the head of the submersible
16
program at the P.P. Shirshov Institute in Moscow, a guy named

Professor
I. I did that through a mutual friend

of ours, a guy named
, who is one of the preeminent
underwater cinematographers in the world. And had been on a
20
submersible expedition out to Titanic the previous year with the

Russians. And that was organized by a Canadian company that was
22 doing an IMAX film which was released under the title Titanica.

By an entire parsec, the Trump administration has undertaken the most illegal set of budget actions in history. This is why we desperately need guardrails to restrain and go after budget malfeasance from the White House.
Reposted by Patti LuPain
That is profoundly illegal. You may not spend money on a purpose without funding. The constitution expressly forbids it, as does the ADA.

Under the Constitution and under the ADA, it is illegal to spend money without funding for that purpose. The president may not spend money to do something unless there's actually money to carry it out and that action is expressly allowed.

Like serious yall if you'd chastise a pregnant person for drinking, smoking or doing drugs while pregnant, it's not too far fetched that people who can be harmed by illness would ask you to mask when around other people. That's harm reduction

time and again. But the very least you could do is not denigrate us, not suggest we're irrational for doing what we have to to not get even sicker and for wishing that others would be in solidarity with those of us who were disabled by COVID or who were already disabled. And have the humility
Especially like, on the subway? Why wouldn’t you want to?

A lot of people think it’s unreasonable to expect masking in public spaces

What’s unreasonable is accepting a mass disabling event when we have tools to stop it

What’s unreasonable is expecting disabled people to stay home forever

What’s unreasonable is risking your long term health unnecessarily

I'm stoked for this mask. Willing to be a walking billboard if that's what it takes

I’m definitely the weird mom. 😩 But after bothering them for 3 years they agreed to let me put an air purifier in the cafeteria. None of the teachers mask and we are the only family who still does. I wish we could have a clean air school for all the families & staff that care.
One of them has been out off and on for nearly a month now. I’m very concerned.

As a teacher PLEASE KEEP PUSHING FOR THIS. parents are why I feel uncomfortable masking at work. Keep bringing it up to the administration, and if you see any educators masking please try and encourage them to keep going. I promise it makes a difference just knowing ppl have your back on this

I just wanna highlight this because the left needs to take COVID seriously also as a matter of fucking labor rights. We take it for granted but teachers pre COVID were already constantly at risk of illness bc of our contact with unvaccinated children at school.
I have been personally funding air purifiers for my kids school and afterschool programs when I can, and the parents that don’t mask don’t seem to care one way or the other. It’s incredibly frustrating.
I was on a call recently with two very sick coworkers with horrible fatigue and sore throats. When I asked if they tested for Covid they seemed baffled by the question. Very few people are testing.

The two scariest episodes of The Twilight Zone are the one with the monster on the airplane wing and the one where I start agreeing with Marjorie Taylor Greene.
What I don’t get is like, why they can’t scroll by? If you don’t believe in solidarity with high risk people, ok, that sucks, but you don’t need to QT folks that do.

Long Covid Is Real — And It’s Changing an Entire Generation

Hundreds of thousands of kids in America are struggling with an illness that many doctors and schools refuse to recognize.e

This study doesn’t seem to account for mask type? Surgical and cloth masks are not very effective. And “masks only work if they’re fit tested” is a right wing talking point. Having done a fit test, a poorly fitted “failing” n95 mask still filters out 80% or more of particles.
We definitely need structural changes—and every time we call folks who don’t want to get sick “living in fear” or “weird” it completely dismisses the very real problem and makes those structural changes harder (bc “only cRaZy people care about clean air”). This whole discourse is incredibly harmful.
