The faces of the young Republicans are not great. (It's ok to make fun of them)

That's about 400MW nameplate, so about a 33% increase in the wind energy in ISO-NE.

Since the marginal fuel is almost always gas, any time the wind blows, this is replacing gas.

They're scared and banking on Fox News and other right-wing media allies pushing this narrative. But the thing is, there's going to be *so much* social media content of these protests that it doesn't matter. They can talk about Antifa and whatever, but it's gonna be families and dogs marching.

like, people are trying to speculate about what all these comments mean, but i think they mostly mean republican leadership are scared shitless and don’t know what to do, and i don’t think it’s much more complicated than that

They're also *unregulated* so when running they would have basically #nofilter. As opposed to modern diesel-hybrid or CNG buses, which are very well filtered.

If Cambridge police set up a sting for all the “buses” on Mass Ave near MIT they’d print money.

This was the fourth “bus” I saw that light cycle.

I’m not sure it’s gotten appreciably worse since then.

The length of the crossing at Comm Ave means inefficiency is baked into that signal. I’m not sure there’s a solution aside from “fewer cars.”

Good. Methane/natural gas has much lower end point emissions than electric buses with diesel heaters.

Not to toot the book, but: Chapter 12.2 is entirely about high-level platforms (48") and freight interactions. US DOT studied this in 2010 as part of ADA work and found no conflicts.

Apologies to anyone who got stuck today driving south across the BU Bridge at rush hour.

At one point there were four 47 buses stuck on one block, and it took about an hour to get through the rotary.

It's kind of amazing how many people have zero concept of net present value.

Well congrats to that one run of the NAM for mostly nailing the South Shore.

I guess this is a good time to remind everyone of why there is virtually no federal oversight into the supplements business... And yea, it's because of a single Senator, Orrin Hatch -- www.nytimes.com/2011/06/21/u...

They can even be used in flat cities, too.

Or you can get heavy BEBs with diesel heaters that spew particulate pollution.

Trolleybuses pull power directly into efficient, hill-climbing engines without need for massive, pavement-crushing batteries. Next gen trolleys with in-motion charging offer significant off-wire travel, allowing incremental wire extension. SF and Seattle partnering:

Do you have excise tax?

Mass excise tax costs about 5% of the cost of the vehicle in the first 5 years, and that's after you pay sales tax.
ofsevit.bsky.social
More money, fewer NIMBYs and a bypass from KIN to OSB would help :)

If this were January, the South Shore would be deeeeep.

Buy a new, $50,000, 25 mpg vehicle, first 5 years:

Reg: $750/year (higher excise for new vehicles)
Ins: $1500/year (higher for new)
Fuel: $1800
Maintenance: $800
Depreciation: $5000

Just about $10k/year
ofsevit.bsky.social
What I figure for an 8 year old car in Mass:

Registration/fees/etc: $125
Insurance: $750
Fuel: $900
Maintenance: $1500 (oil changes, tires, $1000 additional/year)
Depreciation: $1250 ($10k car hoping for 8 years of service)

$4500 includes assumed $1000 of maintenance.
