He sighed and let his head thunk back against the wall. Edward. Beautiful, brilliant, creative, thoughtful, perfect Edward whose ad for a room to rent he had answered nearly six months ago was out tonight meeting someone and likely falling in love and then one day he’ll tell Stede that he wants the new guy to move in so could Stede please find a new place to live, but of course they’ll still be best friends, but then he’ll start moving their plans and making excuses as to why they can’t meet up, and then he’ll tell Stede that he’s great but that he wants to make sure he’s focusing on his relationship, and then one day Stede will be alone in his shoebox apartment with a cat who doesn’t really like him that he adopted to ease the loneliness and he’ll open the mail to see a wedding invitation for Edward and fucking Daniel or some shit and he won’t have even known it was coming and he’ll be sitting in the audience watching as Ed says his vows and rides off into the sunset with his true love.

All things considered, Stede wasn’t surprised that he slept like the dead.
It had been quite the busy day and between running around the shops, doing the decorating and then the soothing release of the lines wrapped around him. He wasn’t sure how long he and Ed had lain in an emotionally tangled heap on the cushions in the living room, but it was certainly pitch dark outside by the time the eventually tumbled into bed.

Sometimes I remember worrying that I was embarrassing when I started sharing my fanart. I fell so hard & so fast for our pirates. Then a pro comic artist I really look up to just out of the blue told me my OFMD stuff was "beautiful work". It was like he knew I needed to hear it right at that moment.

She theatrically wrung her hands when she saw him. “Your father is furious. He says you haven’t been answering your phone, and I have no idea what to tell him, and you didn’t come to the rehearsal dinner!”

Stede bit back the impulse to remind his mother that it could hardly be a rehearsal dinner without the bride in attendance, instead returning to yesterday's lie. “I’ve been indisposed, quite ill from the airport sushi. I went to the hospital yesterday for treatment and was just released this morning.” Stede was somewhat sure that one didn’t stay overnight for food poisoning, but was hoping that the idea of it was disgusting enough to put his mother off further questioning.

“The hospital?” she asked uncertainly.

“I had to have fluids,” he said confidently and did not snicker on the word “fluids.” Ed did, though. Stede, inspired to just a little wickedness, added, “Ed made sure I got more fluids this morning. He’s a really good friend.”

“Just doing my best,” Ed said, mirth beneath his tone, and Stede decided it was best not to tweak Ed further in case he lost his composure.

“Well! You can certainly understand our concern about your absence. The wedding is today.”

We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

I had short hair for decades & am still figuring it out now that I have a long mullet (my hair is very fine & knots easily). I find sleeping with a loose plait works for me. I like two, cos that way if I'm sleeping on my back, I don't get the bulk of the plait pressing into the base of my skull.
