I've been watching Star Trek for the first time and it's very interesting to see the choices made for their universe, and how a lot of them really are just "good for TV" choices like no TV or video games "from our world" because they thought it would be too boring

Having a boomer mom who wants an Alexa in her house and her all lights automated by voice even if it's not convenient at all, I do think there's a disconnect of old people who really don't understand the future they saw on TV was like that because it was good for TV and nothing more.
