The entire Essos setting was supposed to be perfunctory like that, but now half of the cast is sailing down into darkest Arabia or something.

I have read the ASOIAF books a hundred times over and I love them but here's just so many profound flaws in them the cultishness around them is weird.

People pretend the Asoiaf books are much better but most of DwD is literally Daenerys and glup shitto Dornishmen hanging around with Hitlerio Francotis, dog feotus eating psychopath oriental nobleman in mystical not-Arab Indiana Jones fantasyland.

the thing is that the catholicism you like is simply not possible without the reformation

It's a bit shocking to see how Pope Francis' dressing down of Vance has so many of my mutuals posting like zealots of the Counter-Reformation.

i think people dont fully appreciate the extent to which the protestant reformation was a necessary moment in history. we all mock calvinism but theres a reason the firebreathing abolitionists were low-church prots.

Aaron Boone went to the Delphic Oracle before the ALDS. The Oracle said, one big market team from the biggest city in the country will have a de facto bullpen game. Boone saw the Jays rotation for game 4 and said well it can't be us

I don't really think Mullally has any discernible liturgical/theological affiliation, she seems fairly broad churchy, yeah. If there is anything to say about her, it'd be that she's "liberal", whatever that means.
notthedarkweb.bsky.social
All the tired debate about wokeness and progressivism in the CoE aside, Mullaly not discernibly being part of the exchange compact where the Church exchanges evangelical and Anglo-Catholic AoCs is the most interesting part to me.
