I sent the criteria in those editorials back to editor & asked why the paper wasn't in scope

Editors complaining about authors using IA in such a sloppy way that they include hallucinated references of journal editors!

Unless there are costs this won't change

Start applying punishments to academic offenders: e.g. a public list of authors not allowed to publish in the journal for 2 years?

The AI authorship issue is real. We've caught papers that looked OK but had references to works by the *journal editors* that *do not exist*. Like, don't send us papers citing papers we know we didn't write, right?
