Gallecross is the setting starring Jaz the manticore + Alkimos the sphinx.

MarrowScar is the setting for To The Bone starring Xykk, Ada, Kria, and Edmund.

Meanwhile, any kind of traveling to find their families would be done more on the down-low, involving a more stealthy tactic and far more risk to themselves. It would also be a very long journey as their homeland was at least a year of travel away from Gallecross originally.

I've thought about the ambassador-ship thing in passing, they would be traveling with a coterie of the Lord's Guard and some sort of colors that denote them as under the protection of Gallecross and thus even more of a risk than usual to try and Hunt.

The main circumstances I could see that would get Jaz & Alkimos to leave Gallecross would be: potential ambassador work to other walled cities (pitch the Fablefolk Citizenship thing to them w/two of Gallecross' best & brightest), or potentially if they learned their families were still alive.

Every few months, Alkimos helps extract some of Jaz's venom for sale/use. Jaz always complains that Alkimos is too rough on his poor delicate stinger (gotta trigger venom release somehow).

Alkimos has seen that stinger leave gouges in stone and knows Jaz is being a big baby.
