Didn't have anything on my Bio Description when I was on Twitter, but I guess I may as well have one now. Studied music, dabbled in history, love film. He/Him, in case the kilt wasn't a giveaway.

dear US friends, when a sitting president (re)builds the seat of government, it almost always means the president has no intention of leaving at the end of term. your African friends with decades of experience

And the funny part is that, with the way gen-AI works and always WILL work, this is literally the only time anything in this video will look like that. No player will have the same experience as anyone else, and that's not a compliment.
Why didn't I choose to Lergevhtiepsappe?

I see something new every time I watch it. 😂
Oh my god some fucking tech dingdong posted this on Twitter with the caption "AI games are going to be amazing" totally seriously, you have to watch it. You have to. In full screen.

Americans still don't realize how bad it has gotten and how much worse it is going to get.

Immense destruction, pain and suffering, and we're not even at the tip of it.

What I am describing is the rise and fall of artist value.

Humans, with families to support, with hopes and dreams, with creative, intelligent minds that want to experience joy making the thing they love. Game art.

We have had our value stripped away whiost forced to pay more to just fix crap.
But along the way I enjoyed the sense of being a part of creating a mod for a game.

When the Modern Warfare BF1942 mod was hired by EA/DICE to develop their work into BF2, we all thought a new era had arrived.

...and then the team was fired immediately after BF2 launched.
I really wanted to make an autopiloted C-47 which would work as a moving spawn point for paratrooper maps.

Pretty sure that was entirely beyond the capability of the Battlefield game engine. It was definitely beyond my modding abilities.
I spent a LOT of time thinking about this stuff. So much so, that my compulsive behavior to *play* video games turned into a compulsive behavior to *mod* video games.

And then at some point I realized I wasn't very good at it, and it wasn't as fun. And that was basically the end of my gaming life.
This was the golden era of online BBS forums, and so for a while I dabbled with map design, (BF1942 eventually included a map editor in their SDK) 3D modeling in Gmax, texture skinning, reload animations, and hacking vehicle data files to try and create an amphibious plane/submarine, a train, etc.
XWWII, which did its level best to turn an arcade game into something which better approximated actual combat, had a pretty good project management oversight, and ended up absorbing assets from other defunct mods along the way.
This thread reminds me of my misspent youth modding Battlefield 1942, struggling with GMax to try and make additional gun models.

There were some wonderful modding communities, although how well various mods turned out generally depended more on project management from the top than other skills.
Hmm, sounds like a speed run of separating craftsmen from the product of their work.
Some of the architectural space reminds me of other Alma-Tadema Roman works, like "Spring," or..."Spring, but this time with Dinosaurs."

Spicy take: literally all of us have a "Nazi streak"

For example: just like Adolf Hitler, I too believe Nazis should be shot in the head
Man, you clip the greatest gifs. What is this from?

Maybe we should all apply and then wash out of the academy.
Omg, this detail from CNN about the ICE hiring snafu is wild. This seems like an HR 101 level thing to get right.

They turned a hiring bonus into something much closer to an application bonus.

Seems like a great way to burn a ton of cash. Also? Here’s some waste for sure!

I do think we have a pretty good chance of turning gambling into a genuine popular moral crusade 19th century style, because it's becoming a social evil that's destroying young men's lives in particular but also making sports coverage really shit.
Almost every major news story this week is about how the entire economy is now gambling, scams, bribes and theft.

Spicy auto-correct likes to use a lot of weird punctuation because it was trained on stolen work, including my own, and I use punctuation like I'm a British children's author from 1880. I like - and ; so much that I tracked them down as pony beads, so I could use them in bead bracelets.

Today, Mike Johnson will keep the House adjourned for the 81st day out of the last 93.

12 days of work in over 3 months.

With full pay and benefits.

The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown.

It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.
When people in the movement say "We would do anything to help save babies" there is a giant asterisk, and in fine print at the bottom it says "...so long as it is within the right-wing political vision for America."

They will not save babies if it means moving one inch away from capitalism.
