"They're not supposed to do that to ME" is not a position worthy of respect.

"They should never do that to ANYONE" is.
And 100% right to do so.
Expecting “Your Idol” and “Pale, Pale Moon” to be played at Halloween parties. Calling it now. lol

To paraphrase many a rally sign, we're angry for more reasons than can fit on a social media post.
“Don’t be mad that he demolished the east wing of the White House, be mad for a better reason like—“

Stop that.

Let people be mad at Trump for whatever reason moves them. Anger at Trump is good. Don’t police people’s reasons. We can all be mad at him together.

Thought is was @disgustingfilm.bsky.social for a second.

I don't have a BA or anything but I studied sentence structure and pleasing cadence (iambs etc), and I honestly think this should be studied as the Clunkiest Sentence Ever Written.

My gosh, it's almost beautiful.

It doesn't even work on a "skewed internet syntax" level; it's like when old white men try to write teenage slang or AAVE but instead it's shitposting.
Donald Trump is trying to proclaim his consequence and puissance in the only way he can imagine: by slapping his name on a building. Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair.
Like most of what he does, it would be comically pathetic if it weren't for the real damage.
The first we've seen in his notions of annexing Greenland and Canada, sending National Guard to Democrat-majority cities, and the saber-rattling at Venezuela.
The latter...well, that's why the East Wing is in rubble right now.
And being small, vain, and petty, his concept of greatness is limited to two things: conquest and monuments. To be a winner, and to have his memory literally etched in stone.
He doesn't care if he's remembered as a good father, a wise leader, or a decent man--which is fortunate, as he is none of these things. He wants to be remembered as greatest, most admired, most powerful man of his time.
Of course, he's not that either. But that's what he wants.
Like many people who reach that stage of life, he's thinking about legacy: what he leaves behind, what will be said of him after he's gone.
But being the small, vain, petty man he is, he's desperate to have a GREAT legacy.
Here's what I think: Trump knows he's dying. Maybe he doesn't have a literal terminal diagnosis, but somewhere in his shriveled soul he's aware of his inevitable and increasingly imminent mortality.
Leavitt: At this moment in time, the ballroom is really the president's main priority.

We're here. We're queer. We oppose the quartering of soldiers in our homes.
I’ve been thinking about how hard the founding fathers cooked with the Third Amendment.

Imagine being forced to house ICE. I can’t imagine they wash their hands. They’ve never done laundry in their lives. They’d break your stuff if you didn’t cut the crusts off their sandwiches.

Elon Musk couldn’t figure out how to make a pop tart without hurting himself
one thing thats kinda crazy to get your head around is not that the musk and thiel masters of the universe are ungrateful for the vast public infrastructure, public funding of research, and robust systems of laws and rules that made their wealth possible. it's that theyre too dumb to understand it

The "weight lifting robot can replace the gym" analogy (may be Ted Chiang's, originally?) remains undefeated in explaining the category error the generative AI industry continues to make.

Imagine thinking this replaces the point of travel. For crying out loud.
