Oh… oh okay. TF fans don’t understand what “grimdark” is. Okay. lol.

That feeling when you look up synonyms and you already dismissed all of those words.
The closest I’ve come in recent times of wanting to to full on YouTube angry ranter guy is catching stray defenses of the AI PR slop.

Please stop. Move on. She died in the accident two years ago. It’s time to let go.

Even if they *were* entirely correct about exclusives not mattering, which I would highly suggest contesting, saying as much exudes "loser" energy and will only ever deflate excitement over your brand. Between that and the "Xbox handheld that can't play Xbox games" Microsoft messaging is drunk.
Or at least that’s what it felt like at the time.
I feel like there was a period where there FGC community did kind of try to welcome them in, but a combination of some bad actors in the Smash community, their behavior, and Nintendo pulling out of big events just sort of ran that into a wall.
But folks going “OH ITS GOING TO BE OVER THE TOP AND BLOODY LIKE INVINCIBLE.”

Invincible is like that because of what it adapts. I think it’s sort of out of pocket to assume this will be anymore than what we see in the comics.
That said it feels too early in the books life… but on the other hand it’ll be a few years before anything gets done. Who knows where even Hasbro will be by then.

But broader TF media outside the kids focused animated shorts on YouTube and the comics at the moment feels pretty rudderless.
I have a few thoughts here

The first is that this was kind of obviously what I think Kirkman was going to broadly angle towards in the end. I feel like that was obvious from the top.

Why this, not something else? Robert Kirkman is 100% the X Factor in this.

I feel like there’s something in there where (some people, I won’t paint everyone with this brush because that’s not fair) go into it knowing its (western) rep and let that influence them (even when claiming objectivity.)

So the space whale is the first wild ass thing you really see.
Look we had to take what we could get sometimes
“People definitely watched a different show” ends up where I land and I’m not sure how that happens. There’s plenty of things where I’ll see people level criticism and be like, “yeah I liked it but I get where you’re coming from!”

With SEED it’s something else entirely, lol
SEED can take a breath and make people angry, but you’re right it is kind of weird.

“This is why the writing is bad.”

For… thematic world building? What? It’s not like they sit there and go, “well hopefully we find these whales one day!”

digimon fan who's never heard of a werewolf watching horror movies: oh my god he's turning into some sort of WereGarurumon
It sounds very centrist when I say “yeah you could say something bad or good about Nintendo and still have people coming for your throat” but it ends up being wildly true too often

And then neither side of that wants to believe the other exists
