Is the drop determined at the beginning of the encounter or when the fight's over?

Also- will fighting multiple Super Ghosts in the same encounter result in the possibility of more drops or is it just one per encounter?

Gotta say I'm in my bizarrely good place with my Switch 2 and PS5- with Android and PC bringing up the rear, especially now that we went from consoles not dropping in price to going up in price in the same console generation...
