Thank you for your attention to this fecal matter!
Hands-free cellphone calls while driving are just as dangerous and should be banned from auto tech.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?
As a stair-climbing world record holder I can tell you with confidence that no matter how fit you are, stairs will always make you winded, so you’re all good. I’ll be out there cheering. Enjoy Toronto’s open streets!
That's cool. I was thinking more about random conversations between strangers, usually at stoplights. bsky.app/profile/vagu...
Could you imagine the reaction you would get if you pulled your car up to a stop light and just started chatting with the driver next to you? They'd think you were insane.
I love that the "OK Blue Jays" song is just a reminder for the team to play the appropriate sport
And riding a bike is the opposite. It's common for people riding bikes to engage in friendly banter with each other and with people on foot. Something unimaginable between drivers.

I wish "antifa" had not gained such widespread usage. If we just said "anti-fascist," then it would be immediately clear to anyone what the opposite of that is.
Shot in my home town!

I thought the exact same thing.
My wife who works in dentistry complained about how unrealistic it was to have his teeth repaired so quickly after the bike crash and I was like "THAT'S the plot hole you're going with???"
I DNFed the Haliburton Forest 100 Mile Trail Race but took the best nap of my life at 110k.

I wrote a book ab this. It isn't evenly distributed. It happened gradually over a decade. Recommendation engines helped. But mostly it's the product of a propaganda campaign that made being anti-vax an article of *right wing identity*.

Small towns have most of the amenities of daily life. For people who live and work in the same town, the only trips outside the town are occasional things like shopping in the big city or seeing a specialist in another town, things a car share would excel at. Most trips are bikeable!
People say cycling only works in big, dense cities, but here’s the travel time across a small town of 8,000 people. Cycling is totally practical.

Towns should support cycling as a fun, cheap, healthy, family-friendly alternative to driving that improves rather than degrades safety and public space.
So true! We moved from Toronto to a small town a few years ago and e-bike everywhere. I lost count of how many pickup truck drivers have said some version of "That looks like fun, and a great way to get around town."
Just don’t call it The Danny

This obituary is remarkable. Nina must have been an absolute force.
Very sad to learn that women’s running pioneer Nina Kuscsik, who won both the Boston and New York City Marathons, recently passed away. www.jacobsenfuneral.com/m/obituaries...

Through the wild adventures of others and about 1,000 scientific studies, THE EXPLORER’S GENE by Alex Hutchinson will take you on a journey into your own self. I came away from it itching to apply its lessons to my life. (Disclosure: Alex is a friend.)
Let’s goooo.
Just finished reading WATER BORNE by my old journalism school pal Dan Rubinstein. Terrific read about the power of “blue space” that will make you laugh, cry and think. Bonus: there’s a mention of my joggling marathon record in there.
